If you ask for additional sides with the veg thali, they will charge $1.5 each. I do not recommend visiting this restaurant by mistake. The service was handled by only one server who seemed unprofessional and did everything themselves.
I had heard a lot about their Onam special and was eager to try it out. It was amazing and definitely worth the price. I highly recommend giving it a try.
We were regular (almost take every week) customers and we were happy with the food especially there Appam, so decided to order Onam sadya from there. We had on 18 for 15 people. August for pickup on 30. August 11:00 o'clock ordered. We came at 11:15 to get our food and saw a long list, maybe they didn't think. I spoke to some people there and came to know they had waited from 10:30 and ordered before. Some of us went to the door to find out how long it will take and was informed more time. We waited outside until 12:30 and still no sign of commands out. At that time I entered and was said 'to blame mam, it will take a very long time as we have orders from 70 people and 50 people'. We no longer decided to wait and go. To the owner/administration: If you cannot handle the hurry, limit the number of orders you take. It would have been better if you had refused on the day we had ordered us, so we could at least order somewhere else. You have a lawyer, MAYBE doesn't hurt you. This was the worst experience and my first negative review for a restaurant. It's like you're distracting from you, you don't have to remember everyone.
We wanted to see what this latest Indian offer had to offer. We need to know about the commercials on CMR Thamil FM. To keep it easy, I found the food no different from all the other Indian restaurants in the city. The menu was quite basic with some supplements of Kerala cuisine. We tried a variety of products from Veggie pakoras, masala dosai, coastal fish Curry, Veg biriyani and appam. Everything was average. You forget the food as soon as you get out of the restaurant. If Ocean Palate has to survive in this competitive industry, especially with many different and unique offers in the city, then more work has to be done to bring something unique and different to the table. Suggestions, simplify the menu. Stay with Kerala kitchen. You don't have to be everything and everything to rush to the entire subcontinent. Concentrate on the kitchen of Kerala, choose the gems, provide the best quality in ingredients and flavors, authentic to the native dish, present it well (banana leaf, clay pots etc. and I think you will do much better. Don't try to change it, hoping that you would ask everyone. You do not have to provide Dosa and Biriyani and butter chicken etc. There are too many restaurants that work much better. Keep your roots and you will shine. The ambience also needs more work.
Authentic Kerala Cusine, Malabar Parotta Nadan Chicken Curry was the best. The Biryani is also authentic Kerala style. Cons: South Indian Dosa, Sambar Chutney are not up to the mark. Tip: Try the traditional Kerala food which is very good
