The green curry and cold rolls were nice - the cold rolls especially were unlike any others we had experienced before. The lamb dish had too many fatty pieces among the meat, we have had this issue with lamb dishes in other Thai places and you think we would have learned by now to avoid them. Spicing was good on the lamb dish, though. Good variety of vegetables in both dishes to compliment the meat.Rice is included with the dishes, which makes the price reasonable - although the portions are a bit smaller than some Thai places in Toronto and you won't be taking leftovers home.Service a bit distracted but very friendly. No televisions.
Since living in Toronto I have found it hard to find a nice Thai restaurant, most places I have tried are not authentic and nearly all of them use Fish sauce so its near impossible for me to get a vegan dish. Thai is my favourite cuisine so I was delighted when I tried this place as I can order nearly any dish made gluten free and without fish sauce. The dish sizes are as big as most places but in saying that, its a perfect portion and the prices are a lot more reasonable so I am left feeling satisifed and it doesn't break the bank. Also I don't feel guilty after eating here as most dishes that I have tried seemed relatively healthy.
We shared a calamari to start. When they arrived, my first thought was that they looked like "tater tots" like potato puffs. I've never seen calamari like this before. But it ended up being ok because the coating was crispy/crunchy and there were lots of tender squid pieces inside (see photo). It was not what I was expecting, but it was still yummy.I had a $7.99 lunch special that came with Tom Yum soup, a spring roll and green curry chicken with rice. It was delicious. The soup was spicy and the curry was fragrant. I really enjoyed it.My husband had the chicken pad thai with a spring roll for $7.59. Flavour and texture of the noodles were very good. I'm not sure if they have the lunch specials on the weekend because we were there on a Friday, but it's such an affordable price for very good food. Our only critique is the décor inside. The carpet is old and probably should get replaced. The interior could use some re-decorating, etc. But if you go for the food, you won't be disappointed.
We know the Thai cuisine very well and were à bit disapointed by this restaurant: the chicken satay was rare, the pad thai noodles were too cooked. The service is ok but the cuisine isnt that authentic
I love this place!, unassuming, low key mom and pop type restaurant with dynamite food, Pad Thai is spot on, perfectly balanced, and i like the fact the bean sprouts are stir fried in and not raw, i was in Bangkok and Phuket Thailand and I've never seen them served raw like they usually are here. Their Thai beef salad is perfection, Thai room uses salad dressing, no mint, very uninspired lol, this is the real deal, shallots, chillies, lime juice, mint, so fresh and delicious, made the right way. I also had the Chicken satay, and that was pretty spot on as well, generous serving too, delicious. Portions here are excellent, and these guys charge a very fair price for their food, Bangkok Garden i'm looking at you! $16.95 for pad Thai?? Are you insane? If it was better than Thai Country kitchen, maybe... but I've had it, and it's no match... and it's definitely not worth $16.95 lol. But i digress,,, this place is fantastic, GREAT Thai food, their chef is excellent. This is my go to Thai food resto, very consistent, very delicious...
