We gathered here for a family birthday celebration, and we all had a good time. Our servers were kind and professional, and did a great job managing our large group. My personal opinion of the food is that it was ok. I ordered the salmon,...More
The 19th century building has been renovated in full on Art Deco style, with wonderful features such as a stained glass ceiling, but also some rather over the top features of decorative lamps trims and so on. There is a lots to look at!DDH is primarily a steak house and my partner's steak was excellent - big, juicy, and amazingly well supported. His baked potato was brought along with a large dish of toppings all generously supplied. He loved it. I ordered the Seafood Delight, a mix of scallop shrimp salmon and halibut. It was all a bit dull and dry. I had intended to order a side of asparagus which came with hollandaise, but the waiter kindly substituted the asparagus for the regular vegetables. This was great service which saved me cash, but meant there was no sauce to add to the fish.We shared an appetizer of crab cakes, which were very good, and a dessert of crime brûlée which was also good. Free appetizers of pickles, garlic bread, cottage cheese and olives were also provided, so it was no surprise that we were both very full by the end, despite sharing two courses.Prices are on the high side, though wine is reasonably priced. Excellent service and highly recommended for meat lovers.
A lot of diners seem to really like this place, so maybe it's just not my taste. It just feels dusty and seems to appeal to an older crowd based on the clientele the night I was there. It is in a historical house which felt old and dark to me. The prices are quite expensive, with most entrees well over $30. I had the prime rib, which I found to be somewhat fatty and not that flavourful. Service was interesting, too. Old school waiters who tried to provide formal old school service. But our waiter didn't want to accept that we were finished our meal and it seemed to take forever for him to clear the table. The place is probably fine if this is the type of place you enjoy. But probably not the best if you enjoy something more contemporary.
Great service from getting in the door till the end of the meal. This is a business dinner with a total of 16 people. Food is amazing, from appetizer, entree to dessert, just so yummy. Must try The garlic bread made by their own secret garlic butter sauce, just delicious. I ordered the bean soup, just right amount of mixed beans. My colleague ordered the salad and she said it was fresh and delicious. I ordered the Steak (medium rare), just perfect, juicy and tender, served with rice and seasonal vegetables. Cheese cake is rich and yummy, coffee is fresh and hot as expected. My server Eric provided excellent service to everyone. All my colleagues said they love the food and the room (private dinning room )!
