Feedback gevenI was visiting Australia last month and I came across Jashn. The food was amazing, service was quick and the staff was very friendly. I would recommend trying the keema naan and the the dal makhani. I hope to return soon!
I have been travelling a lot both inside and outside India and my only concern has been to locate good authentic Indian food. And one of the few places where Indian food was no worry was Jashn Torquay. I was pleasantly surprised to find more non Indians relishing well cooked Indian food than Indians. Since I myself enjoy cooking at home on weekends I know pretty well that cooking Indian food requires lots of patience and time. At Jashn, they must be spending lots of time making such yummy dishes both North and South Indian.During my visits to various beautiful destinations on Great Ocean Road I always tried to have my dinner at Jashn. I also visited their branch Jashn at Pako which was equally good but smaller in size.I strongly recommend it for its authenticity and pleasant courteous staff.
My experience at jashn was excellent. Food was delicious and it came out in good time. The service was great and the owners were also very friendly and made a point to come over and see how everything was going. Would definitely return and recommend.
Looked online at reviews thought this place would be ok. The service was quick and friendly but the food was awful. The Tikka Marsala was dry and raw at the same time and tasted like leggos pasta sauce. My husband had a weird beef dish that was nothing but strange. Then a dish arrived that was some sort of creamy over spiced meat that we didn't order but it didn't matter because it was inedible. We filled up on Naan and left minus $71. We have had better Indian in food courts. We eat at a lot of Indian restaurants around Melb this one was a major disappointment not interested in ever going again. We bought a $10 Pizza next door on the way out from Bubbas it was excellent.
I used think,"home away from home" was just a saying and nothing could ever come close to the comfort and taste of one's home and its meals. I'm glad I visited Jashn last November to be proven wrong. I was on vacation with my parents travelling along The Great Ocean road which is a treat in itself. What made it better was, we came across this restaurant on zomato, when my father expressed his craving for a home cooked meal. We reached the place around 7 in the evening. The ambience and decor was just perfect. The owner greeted us graciously as he recognized his fellow countrymen and their craving for some authentic Indian (Punjabi) meal. Dal Makhani and butter chicken was our go to order and the crispy butter naan to go with that was a delight. Samosas as an entree was new for me as here in India that's not very common. However, I understood why Aussies love it so much as soon as I took my first bite. Towards the end , it was the mango kulfi which stole the show for me. I've got to mention the great hospitality shown by the team at Jashn, along with some lip-smacking, finger licking food.As I said earlier, just like home.
