But don 't be put off, open the door, climb the stairs and enter the the simple dinning room with its walls covered with the owners grandfathers cups, photos and medals from his time as a Hand ball athlete. The food is very simple but utterly delicious. In fact my favourite course was a bowl of courgettes and carrots. The carrots tasted like nothing I 'd ever experienced before sweet, soft and seasoned with oregano. I couldn 't stop woofing them down. The pasta of course was also wonderful and the plate of their three desserts just totally seductive. It 's not fancy, it 's not modern, it 's not slick it 's just a perfect restaurant for proper Italian food and the sort of place you always wanted to discover.
In the vastness of langhe located in the heart of a small village a place where time has stopped and the way food is done is based on super fresh ingredients and everything is handmade from bread to dessert. Simply fantastic
Torresina is a very small village in the Alte Langhe region of Italy 's north west Piemonte. Piemonte means at the foot of the mountains in the case of Torresina, those mountains are the Alpes Maritimes, 20 or so kilometres away. This very attractive area has been discovered by Germans and Dutch retirees who have bought houses throughout this area. Trattoria Mollo was originally recommended to us by the helpful ladies at the Salotto del Turista in Alba and we are eternally grateful for this recommendation. Trattoria Mollo seems to be the only commercial enterprise in Torresina which is located in a rich agricultural district. It is family owned and run and has been for several generations. Everything they serve has been produced by them. The attentive waitress at Trattoria Mollo is the daughter of the cook. We always place ourselves in her capable hands and she never lets us down. I 'm not sure if she speaks other languages but as we speak Italian, there isn 't a problem. At lunch recently, we said that we would like first courses only (primi in Italian), so we were served home made salami, prosciutto and other cured meats; a truly superb vitello tonnato (veal in tuna sauce a great delicacy); deep fried zucchini flowers, potato croquettes, and many more. All were accompanied by a lovely dolcetto. The price was very reasonable as well.
