He asked who in our group could speak Italian and we explained no one was fluent (in broken Italian .We asked for menus and after a long wait he came back with two menus all in Italian. That was fine but we needed time to translate the options on our phones. He stood, we spent a long time explaining we needed more menus (one of our party spoke a little italian and could explain although it seems obvious if you have five diners you need five menus . There was no one else in the restaurant at this time but still he seemed impatient for us to order. We asked about pizzas but despite the sign for the restaurant saying ‘pizzeria’ we were told there were no pizzas. One member of the party was vegetarian which is why we opted for a pizzeria and we asked about ‘vegetariano ‘ but we were told there were no options- the waiter then insisted the vegetarian come into the kitchen to be shown various vegetables and meat (no idea why . We asked about ‘pollo’ but were pointed to veal on the menu (not the same thing! finally we opted for the easiest things we could understand under duress from a clearly irritated waiter. The food- mixed grills and chips and pasta with pesto for the vegetarian- was fine. I am not sure why the only woman in the group was served the smallest mixed grill although charged the same as the others. We had dessert and left, never to return. Give everyone a menu, give non Italians time to understand the menu, don’t give women a smaller plate of food and charge the same and don’t put Pizzeria on your sign if you don’t serve pizza!
I was born in Texas and my dad is Texan, and I grew up in a neighboring state. Even in Texas you would have to know where to go to find a steak this well prepared and of this high quality. But be warned take your manners. If you are rude or if you drink too much the owner will let you know. He also might not let you order a salad. All of this makes me like this place even more.
Tutto sommato, come piace a noi!
