Perfect place about victor hugo market, for a family dinner for ducks and meat lovers. they serve different menus that starter is dessert and wein included and are good value. open only at midday.
We were only in Toulouse for a day and a night but fortunately our accommodation host recommended this place for lunch. It is above the market halls Victor Hugo and there are several restaurants next to each other. We were told to go to Le...Louchebem and it was worth it. One of these places with simple, honest and tasty food for a very good price. Nice wines and lovely views especially when sitting outside. I bet it gets very busy here when the weather is warmer so get there early.
We had the cassoulet and toulouse sausage both were delicious, the portions are huge! Interesting seating I was basically trapped by the table and to get out you had to move the table forward.
Sitting atop the incredible Marche Victor Hugo, this is one of several restaurants in the market. Sit inside if you want, but on the balcony you can enjoy the city pass by and admire the wonderful architecture. But you came for the food! Ok, it's not fancy, but it is very very good. The Pate de Campagne is a delightfully savory first course and the serving is just the right size, The local Toulouse sausage is fery flavorful, but perhaps a bit dry for American tastes, but the sauce spooned into the depression in the mashed potatoes (lumpy and homey...the way I like them) is something I could live on. Dip the sausage into the sauce and you are home free! Oh, then there is desert...The Gateau au Chocolat is among the best cakes I have ever tasted. Dark and rich, not too sweet. A crisp outer layer encloses wonderfully moist cake, with whipped cream and a drizzle of caramel on the side...what more could you ask. All of that comes with a half of wine, not a half bottle, but a half liter...so beware. This is all sourced on the floor below, in the market. The service is warm and friendly in an easy going French way. The servers are busy and efficient, but always ready to take care of you. This wonderfulness does come at a price though...12.90 euros, including the wine and service. I should have gone more often!
