Hombre Mexican Street Food - Townsville

Went here with 4 friends ona sunday after the movies- service was prompt, polite and efficient ...everyone enjoyed their meal ... good to have a beer or wine with food too

Came here for lunch with my partner and the baby. I've been to a lot of mexican street food stores and this was up there with the better ones. Mostly due to how friendly the staff were, we felt very welcome. The food was quite good but expensive for what it was. $60 for a burrito, and enchilada and a kids quesedilla with soft drinks. Both our meals were tasty, my partner was happy with her enchilada and my burrito was very filling. Though the burrito meat didn't blow me away I still left a happy customer and I would likely return again if I was in the area.

We dropped in here for a late lunch because my partner LOVES Mexican food and has wanted to try this place for weeks. All I can say is don't bother. Townsville has plenty of great cafes and restaurants but this place really needs an overhaul just to be in the running for 'average'. The service was bad... we had to track down a staff person to take our order, the meals took so long we were just about to try and find another staff person to ask if they'd gotten lost. The place wasn't busy, but there were still tables that needed clearing when we left (and we were there around 40-50 minutes). I'm not a fan of Mexican, so ordered the mushrooms because there was no mention of chilli on the menu. Turned out, there was something hot on the dish; it might have been in the pineapple salsa. Not sure. And that's the least of the concerns - the mushrooms were dried up, cold and basically inedible. The pineapple salsa was just lumps of tinned pineapple with the odd (read very hard to find) bit of feta. There was no follow up from any staff person about the meals either.

The staff at this restaurant were friendly and helpful. I ordered the small chicken enchilada with salsa, which was served on a bed of rice. It was great value for the portion size - I had trouble finishing it and couldn't imagine eating a larger serving. My husband ordered the Aussie burger, which had some delicious Mexican flavors.

Service was good, staff was nice but the food was absolutely awful and so over priced. Don't think I'll even bother giving it a second chance.
