Shorter's Barbeque - Tracy

The food here is fantastic! I especially love the pulled pork plate and the pulled pork nachos. It’s conveniently located inside the bowling alley, making it an easy choice for league nights. The kids enjoy their hot dogs, chicken strips, and fries. As for parking, there's a shared lot with plenty of spaces. It's definitely kid-friendly, offering simple options like hot dogs, burgers, and chicken strips for the little ones.

We love this place ,we aren't from tracy but been here several times. My husband works down the street at amazon and one day he forgot his lunch we drove trying to find him something ti eat he saw that place got me a tri tip sandwich and Mac a d chesse and him garlic fries and a brisket sandwich. I havw to say this is by far the best bbq place we have ever tasted . We will proudly keep coming to this place ,it's always clean and super fast at getting the food we spent around $34 for everything but trust me it is way worth the money my tri tip sandwich alone had so much meat and they smoke everything !! This is a must try and come back type of place next time we go we will definitely take pics !

As soon as we stepped into the bowling alley, we were hit by an unpleasant odor. Having bowled there a few times over the years, we were pretty hungry and made our way to Shorters. There was only one other customer ahead of us, and the young lady who took our order was friendly. Mr. Shorter entered shortly after and began chatting with a male friend who was watching TV. They engaged in conversation while assembling a portable sink Mr. Shorter had brought in. At one point, he acknowledged my husband with a semi-nod, but I found it strange that he didn’t greet any of the customers dining there. We ordered hot links, three sides (potato salad, fries, mustard greens), two Shasta sodas, and a tri-tip sandwich, totaling about $40. After about fifteen minutes of waiting, I noticed no one in the kitchen was wearing hair coverings while handling food. The footrest area at the bar needed cleaning, and I had to ask the cashier to rinse off the top of my soda can, which was dirty. When our food arrived, it was delivered by a young woman with a bushy ponytail. The hot links were drenched in BBQ sauce, lacking grill marks, and they were warm but not hot. The potato salad did help enhance their flavor, but they weren’t spicy as the cashier had mentioned. The fries were two-toned, hard, stale, and looked like they were the last of the batch — only one fry was soft and warm. My tri-tip sandwich had a good amount of meat, but it wasn’t hot, and the bun had a pinkish liquid soaked into one corner, which made me concerned that the meat wasn’t cooked properly. Two bites into it, I wasn’t impressed, and it didn’t smell fresh. I ended up scraping the meat off the bun into my husband’s link container in an attempt to salvage it. As a Southern woman who knows good soul food and can cook, I must say the greens were not memorable at all! We genuinely wanted to support this local business and speak with Mr. Shorter about our dissatisfaction, but we were unsure how he would take it. The only time he acknowledged us was as we were leaving. I dislike writing negative reviews, but this reflects our experience and the truth. I wish the business all the best, but they need to make some significant improvements before we consider returning.

I finally understand why I was hesitant to visit this restaurant before. I had a disappointing experience. The staff member at the front was new, but it's important to at least make an effort to be professional. She seemed more interested in relaxing than assisting customers. My burger arrived overcooked, and I didn’t receive my drink; I had to ask for it. After requesting a new burger, the wait was excessively long. They charged me for BBQ sauce but never delivered it, and I found myself asking for it every five minutes until it finally arrived. Additionally, there were numerous flies buzzing around the food. Overall, it was not a pleasant experience.

First time went last Thursday may 25,2024 .My honey and I the meat was good the potato salad need some more salt and the little small potatoes salad and charge for the greens and yams separately price.We want be back we will go to the one in Sacramento they know how to serve food right
