Country House Cafe - TRAVELERS REST

Really wanted to like this place but unfortunately I was disappointed. I don't like leaving bad reviews but it's the only way a business will take the Initiative to improve. The staff was wonderful and the presentation was great. I got the country fried steak and my mom got the fried flounder which both were ok???? The rice&gravy was on point and the greenbeans were the typical can kind but the mac-n-cheese had to be replaced because it had obviously spoiled. To me that's the head cooks fault for not tasting the food before putting out for consumption. Hopefully they'll make adjustments to improve on the quality of their food.

I cant say enough good things about this place! In just a few words this is one incredible, awesome and amazing restaurant! Service is above and beyond a 10 and the food is also way past 10 on a scale of 1 to 10. When you look at photos and read reviews and see the food in person and all of it looks like a spectacular food magazine presentation but that's just how it really is then you have to appreciate this is a case where the food tastes as good as it looks. So then for this kind of service and quality and huge portions then you'd expect maybe to pay some inflated exorbitant price but no this is priced far less that some of the other places people love for lackluster mediocre over priced food like IHOP, Dennys, waffle house or applebees. Those craptastic nationwide chain restaurants charge about the same prices the Country house cafe or even more for food thats easily a solid 2 maybe 3 and here you pay less and get twice as much food, twice the service and 10 times the quality and taste. I will eventually make my way through the whole menu and eat everything that isnt seafood only because I hate seafood but if I did eat seafood I would be eating it from here! I got the country fried steak and 3 sides and I have to say all that and cooked to perfection for just under $12 not counting my drink is not bad at all, I almost felt guilty and would've gladly paid more even twice what they charge but having said that in this day and age when service is at an all time low it's good to come to a place that's got great service, great prices and excellent food. This is easily one of the best restaurants in the entire upstate and holds their own and beats anybody out there because there isn't much to put in comparison that meets all 3 criteria.

Service was friendly, fast and courteous. The meal was very good and portions perfect. Next time we hope to sit outside and enjoy our meal. We will return. 3/20/22. We returned for lunch and was very disappointed, glasswares and silverware had to be replaced. The meal was substandard even for a hamburger. This was our third time there, and frankly our last.

As much as I travel up and down 25 between Asheville and Greenville, I?ve never really paid this place any attention. Until one day I had a friend in the car who recommended we stop in. It was the best decision we both could have made. The shrimp and grits, are amazing. Along with the Fried Green Tomatoes, and sweet potato crunch. From the patrons to the staff everyone was nothing but pleasant. I will be back soon.

Greeter/waitress, very nice. Place was clean and neat. Service was fast and food arrived quickly. The food and serving size was almost exactly like my mom used to make. I had the roast beef over rice and it was tender and very tasty. The Mac and cheese tasted home made. The rice was slightly over-cooked which is exactly how I like it! The fried okra could have been a bit warmer but it was good anyway. There were beautiful deserts but I was very full halfway thru the meal and ended up leaving food on the plate. Once again, this will remind you of home. Outside is plenty of family fun with swings, farm animals, etc. This is a place for all to enjoy. Country atmosphere and food at its best!!
