Although the French cuisine is still in the menu, the chefs must have been replaced with cooks who have no knowledge of French cooking. I will treasure the memories of the old place on Lake Ave. And I may come back here, but with much lower expectations.
The service sucks, around the time we were there the crowd started to die down. It took almost 40 min for eggs Benedict. When i asked where our food was, she immediately came out with it (as if she had forgot us) and of course the food wasn't even hot. Clearly had been sitting under a lamp. Food was good, but not that good. Bad first impression, sucks.
Went for Sunday breakfast/brunch. Everything was amazing!! Started off with the mocha latte, the crème brûlatte and beignets. Then had the quiche Lorraine and the croquet Madame. The kitchen was a little slow today but we were given notice before we even sat down. The staff from the door to the bartender (sat and ate at the bar) was on point. Definitely worth the wait and would recommend to anyone and everyone!
French toast was awesome! Kitchen was a little slow, so our bartender comped one of our cocktails.
We came here years ago and it was fantastic. What we remembered was a quaint little place with amazing French bistro food. What we got this time for my husband's birthday dinner was a massive disappointment from the time we walked through the doors to the end of the meal. We made a reservation and thought we'd at least get a nice table. Nope. Tiny little table with no space and up against a weird wall. The service was honestly terrible. Slow. Our waitress messed up several things, including bringing back red wine instead of the rosés we ordered, with no apology. She never checked on us and it took well over 35 minutes to get our over salted, weird tasting soup a l'oignons. Our wine glasses and empty bowls sat for another 25 min until we asked who I presume was the manager if we could get another drink and maybe some of the bread they were carrying around since our dinner was nowhere to be found. She said sure and disappeared. Someone comes and brings us a cold hunk of bread (by the way, it's nowhere on the menu and they charge you $3 for this). Drinks arrive 10 minutes later with our dinners. I had La Parisienne which was ham, Brie and apple sandwich. It was okay. Not fantastic, not horrible. My husband got steak frites, and the market cut was NY strip. He said it was okay but the meat was pretty low quality, and she didn't bring the béarnaise he asked for instead of the Dijon sauce they brought. The fries were clearly frozen, not fresh. Since it was his birthday, we decided to get dessert but I'm now kicking myself for consuming those extra cals because it was basically tasteless chocolate cake with some whipped cream and a ton of powdered sugar that wasn't even lightly sifted. Just plopped on there. My husband got crème brûlée and it was okay. As he said, it's pretty hard to mess up crème brûlée. Overall the not awful, not great, mediocre food got this place 1.5 stars, but that's not an option, so two it is. The service was horrendous. Just awful. Would never come back here, which is a bummer because we had a great memory of what it was.
