Red Mesa Grill - Traverse City

Last week, we had an incredible experience at the restaurant thanks to our fantastic waiter, and we left him a $50 tip for his outstanding service. This evening, I came back with my mom, hoping to avoid the busy hours. Surprisingly, it wasn't very crowded, but we ended up waiting 40 minutes before a waitress even approached us or brought us any chips. Unfortunately, the service we received from a waitress named Jackie was dreadful. She was quite rude and treated my mom poorly just for ordering regular nachos instead of the deluxe ones. When the nachos arrived, they were completely burnt. To make matters worse, we didn’t get our drinks until we had already finished eating. Thankfully, another waitress named Summer stepped in to help us, as Jackie was incredibly unhelpful. This is a place I would typically rate with 5 stars, but this one employee really tarnished the overall experience.

We were genuinely impressed with the quality and flavor of both the food and drinks. The interior was vibrantly and funnily decorated. Although I'm not usually a fan of margaritas, I loved theirs, and the food was delicious. It's been a long time since we've been to a Mexican-style restaurant like this. We chose it for its convenient location, as we were staying within walking distance, and my husband and I are very glad we did.

We've been here twice now! Everything is delicious and they've got a great supply of hot sauces.. Definitely recommend checking it out.

We went early, like 4 o'clock. Was seated almost immediately. Sofia was our server. She was friendly and helped with suggestions for dinner. Wife had shrimp tacos and I had the Brazilian steak. Both were amazing. Also Sofia helped us out withlow carb friendly red bel pepper strips instead of chips. Highly recommend.

Absolutely exceptional service! The food was wonderful! When our server learned it was my birthday, they generously insisted on giving me a slice of Key Lime Pie to take home, knowing I was too full for dessert.
