San Tomaso apartment building is brilliantly in keeping with the history of the surrounding area and our room, like the building throughout, has been thoughtfully furnished and decorated with many quirky touches. Room was large, bed comfortable and bathroom and shower decent. Breakfast room is superb and the breakfast itself suitable for most tastes. Cereal, cooked eggs, toast, meats, cheese, fresh and dried fruit, muesli, tea, coffee all served by polite and well mannered staff with a background of low jazz music. Beppe is a very affable manager, approachable, mindful and helpful. Within yards there are a few cafes, bars and restaurants and the area is within walking or bus distance of the centre of Treviso. Walking would be recommended as you pass many interesting places and get your bearings for the place. With all this good stuff almost inevitably there is a downside...and this is quite a big one. If, like us, your room faces the street, your window for sleeping is between say 2am and five am ! San Tomaso is the epicentre for locals, mostly young I remember it well ! to gather of an evening and shoot the breeze with a few not cheap drinks. Well mannered and, from what we could see, absolutely no drunken laddish or ladette behaviour, it is nevertheless, astoundingly noisy. Closing the outside shutters, windows and even the curtains in an effort to shut some of it out was pointless. Seen the day we would have been last to leave ourselves, but these days sightseeing and relaxing with at most, a midnight finish, is the order of the day. When the bar closes and the last goodbyes are said, you have two hours to sleep before the streetsweeper makes its rounds and the market sets up below an hour later. The nearby church bells, so atmospheric and redolent of much of Italy, seem to wait until you are just getting used to the din before going for it ! Why didn 't you bring ear buds I would possibly hear you say over the Ital disco...I did ! Friday and Saturday it is to be expected, Sunday had another market and a d.j. at night ! I suppose it is the 'penalty ' for having things, literally, on your doorstep. A great bed and room in a house where everywhere you look there are reminders of past times and the staff are what you would hope is well worth a night or two in Treviso.
And exelent food. The place was recommended by a good freind, and we where not disappointed at all. Very good food served by nice people. We will sure come back next time we are in Treviso.
It has been a stunning dinner in Treviso!! Excellent service, cozy rooms, delicious food and good wine pairing. Highly recommended!
