Often, hotel restaurants are more expensive and we are tempted to find an alternative. This one, at the hotel governor of shawinigan, has pleasantly surprised us. I tasted a risotto at the squash, pumpkin and really tasty mushrooms (14$) and my spouse, a chicken from the general tao (16$) particularly good. options to convert our menu to a table d'hôte are also available at a reasonable price. the choice of wine to the glass was a little restricted when we went (some wines on the menu were not available), but the service was correct and the place, pleasant.
Sigh: the soup was very good, the rest very ordinary. the calf blanquette was not one, the potatoes were very sticky and immangeable. Lunch: a very ordinary buffet with a cold and tasteless omelette. A single cheese, sliced cheese, like Kraft... (when you produce lots of good cheeses with quebec) only the fruits were correct and fresh.
Went as a family for breakfast - 3 of us took the buffet. It was very average - nothing special but it also was not too expensive at 10$ so I would complain about that. What was extremely annoying was having each plate whisked from under me as soon as I took the last bite. Everytime. It was as if we were being watched like a hawk. Very annoying. Advice to servers: wait until we get up to get another plate before taking the last plate. Also coffee wasn't great and beans were too sweet...and didn't see any pancakes/crepes yet saw maple syrup on the buffet table.
Thanks to Jeremy, a table of good taste and a service worthy of a 5 stars! from the entrance to the dessert, everything is excellent. Crab bisque, trout tartare, fish and chips and burned cream...
