Nice place to always be so pleasant to see consumers running around with their reusable bags! Large selection of fresh vegetables during summer time, a little more economical during winter (only about root veggies means you need to be creative when you do on the market like me for my homemade meals! The vegetables can be a little expensive (especially for poor college students :P , but if you buy during the right time in the season, you can get a lot! Gorgeous atmosphere and a friendly community that not only produce, but several kiosks with homemade items (socks, soaps, syrups and baked goods!) (including a juicy little vegan stable that I am hypnotic every time, I never have the chance to resist D: I will tell you that I am always a bit disturbed that the **** (caused to be called Achilles who comes with his farmers seems to meet the meat stands! There are more meat and milk levels than I would prefer. They seem almost equal to the number of veggies! It is actually on the Riverfront Park in May-October and in the Atrium of October-May.
I enjoyed the numerous friendly sellers, at least three sold apples, but was disappointed to find mostly meat sale: three sellers with beef, two with sheep, an elk, many with pig. There were two bread vendors. Not a good season for greens or vegetables (except for potatoes and carrots).
Wow, they block off quite a few streets to accommodate numerous vendors! I’m just visiting for the weekend, but I managed to pick up some fantastic fresh fruit, a beautiful bouquet of organic flowers, and three jars of raw nut butter at very reasonable prices. There were also sellers of unique trinkets and jewelry. My girlfriend got some coffee, her sister picked up some baked goods, and we all had a great time wandering around and exploring. Although, I must say, there were also vendors selling dismembered body parts. That was pretty gross.
The atmosphere is wonderful and the community is overall very friendly. In addition to fresh produce, there are several kiosks offering homemade items like socks, soaps, syrups, and baked goods! There’s even a charming little vegan stand that I find irresistibly tempting every time I visit—truly, I can never say no to it D: One thing that does unsettle me a bit is the rooster, rumored to be named Achilles, who seems to be always facing the meat stalls alongside his farmer. There are actually more meat and dairy stalls than I would prefer; they almost match the number of vegetable stands! The market is held at Riverfront Park from May to October and moves indoors to the Atrium from October to May.
