It is about 6 miles from Northstar/Ritz Carlton, so a relatively short ride to get your essentials for your cabin / apartment / cabin / cabin / room. It is about 2 miles from the street of Raleys near Tahoe airport, so if you want, o save some money and come here, it can be worth it. Customer service was average Venue was clean and articles were good in stock Just beware of holiday shopping as everywhere and build in time to stay in line. Self-control is available.
Very nice big business. Shelves are usually well in stock. You can be busy on Friday afternoon when the weekend tourists arrive.
From all markets in Truckee, Safeway is the lowest rated. I think management and the company have to wonder why. My self I would give this safeway minus 5 stars if there was an option. I had a second home in Truckee for 36 years, and since Safeway is closer to my home, I thought I would give it another try. My biggest complaint is the management of this store. But as I am, I will also review the quality of the foods sold. I'm a credible reviewer. I have been a registered Dietitian for 47 years, with three degrees in nutrition. I am also a good cook and try to use high quality ingredients. In my early years I have studies in food labels, so I am one that always reads the labels. I visited this supermarket in the late afternoon, on Thursday, five days ago. Although I didn't want to make a special trip, I decided to return spoiled food. It wasn't the first time. I have also been overloaded several times over the course of 36 years. When I arrived, no one was available at the customer service desk. I waited and nobody came. Then I asked a cashier to call someone, but still nobody came. Then I decided to call myself. To be heard in this business, I said noisy.... Customers need help with customer service. No one has arrived yet. Finally, someone came. She identified herself as B.M. I only use her initials and that she was the manager. She then went on to accuse me and accused me of screaming and told me that my behavior was unacceptable and she wanted to throw me out of the store. Yeah, I, a 79-year-old senior, a little old lady. How pathetic. I have retired for many years and worked in a clinic with patients from many different countries. In all these years I never had a negative encounter, and when I retired, it was with honor and received a plaque from the governor of California, which recommended me for an excellent service to the community. I felt angry and humiliated. I remember before Covid that problems in this business are very long lines in register, unfortunate employees, overloads, butchers do not know how to cut meat, spoiled products not removed, fishy smell salmon, improper storage, prices clinked on weekends, and the list goes on. Some of these problems cannot be solved in this business, but must be dealt with at company level. Heart diseases, cancer, high blood pressure, diabetes, allergies, etc. are widespread in our population. Residents and visitors of this city deserve to have a supermarket that sells processed food free from hydrogenated fats, high fructose corn syrup, artificial colors and flavors, and other harmful ingredients. An example among many are the foods sold in the bakery. When you look at the labels, almost all have a so long list of unhealthy ingredients that you can get dizzy to look at such labels only. I should take part in a meeting of the Truckee Council. I want to discuss my concerns. I think this shopping center, called Gateway at Donner Pass, is managed by Kimco Reality. You need to be aware of practices in this store. In the end, even if I had to travel twice to another store in Truckee, I should offer this store completely goodbye. Two days ago, I went to Raley. Staff appeared happy, the lines were shorter, and unlike Safeway they had an express line open. Foods were healthier and better in quality. I left on my face with a smile.
Dear Safeway company, senior management, or to make it my concern about the PHARMACY. I went to your safeway pharmacy in Truckee Ca., to establish as a new customer relationship, I was nice and introduced myself to ALL THE STAFF and get my recipes filled, I'm new to Medicare and I bought a Humana drug plan where Safeway participates, I was totally nice to the manager YEN and followed her rules and put her all my recipes, the first day she saw, I received a call that said it would be ready on the following Sunday, I drove back to Safeway on this Sunday to pick up the last recipe and YEN the manager said to me that they now won't fill it, and they said they 't carry this regulation more, official from that day. When did the pharmacists explain that they are GOD and 't fill your recipes?? On this Sunday, I was annoyed, like on a Sunday from here? She always said that I wasn't nice what I was really nice, but who wouldn't worry about this kind of unprofessional treatment in this question, I just asked questions why she rejected my prescription and what was her full name that she wouldn't give me to say online to go online to get her name and get my recipe somewhere else filled, she could at least say that a week so I didn't want to get this stuff. I called back today Tuesday to get more consistent information, the manager YEN as me now said that she only carrier 5mg and not the 10mg and won't order the 10mg, she also said she has no other customers who take this drug, why even wear it. I thought it was easy to order more drugs. I have tried to establish myself as a new client, as I have now lived in this area for 45 years, and I just can't understand why I was treated like that. I'm confused now. #SAFEWAY.COM #SAFEWAYPHARMACY #PAHRMACYSAFEWAY #SAFEWAYpharmacistsplaysGOD
Understaffed. It was embarrassing for the company. Seriously get some help in the store. The checker said this is the highest grossing store in the company. On a Sunday they had 2 check stands open.
