The carpet looks like it is from the 70's, and smelled that way. Room was dirty, Cheetos on the floor upon arriving, even though it had supposedly been checked. The decor was old. Half the rooms have nice views of the valley, and the other half have a view of other hotel rooms. The stone of counter in the washroom was cracked and dented. The tub had a large hole in it that was been repaired some years ago and now has a nasty yellow discoloration. We are feeling hungry in the middle of the night. The hotel restaurant is closed at night, and no kitchen staff are working. The hotel also does not have a marketplace, so you can't buy anything to eat from the front desk. The hotel is also far from the town, so it is more difficult to drive to get a quick bite to eat. This may have been a 5 star hotel at one point, but not any more. I would rather stay at a newly built 3 or 4 star hotel instead.Valet parking is mandatory here for $60.Breakfast is not included. The plant based sausage was cold. Coffee was bland. Breakfast was also overpriced. Better to drive to town and get something better.Rooms: Old, and broken
Attended a wedding here and the balcony adjacent to the ballroom smelled disgusting all night, like dog feces. It seemed to be coming from the large dumpsters right below the balcony. We all went out there for fresh air but couldn't really get it all night.Besides this major issue, the facility was nice, the staff were fine (not exceptional as I would expect from the ritz but they didn't get in the way too much), and the food was good. I wouldn't ever choose to stay there in the future or have an event there.
Thank you Ritz Carlton Lake Tahoe for the most fabulous stay! Gus, David, Maria, Dyanne and team, you all are wonderful and made our vacation a truly memorable and special one.The RCLT is our MOST favorite spot to stay in all of Tahoe. One is greeted so warmly from the valet to the front desk to the incredible True North Shop and Ski/Boot Concierge Team who make pre and après skiing an absolute dream.Gus' love of people and desire to make every guest feel so special he really sets the bar high for all Ritz Carlton Club Lounges and is an inspiration for his team and us.The spa is absolutely divine. You will love every treatment. The gondola is so easy to use and it is a short ride to the fun NorthStar Village for a quick bite, cocktails, smores and ice skating.Thank you RCLT for yet another fabulous vacation. See you soon!
Amazing hotel in an amazing location. We brought the whole family and were able to get adjoining rooms one with a balcony and both with wonderful views. Very comfortable beds maybe bordering on too soft for my taste. Bathroom had a separate shower and deep soaking tub, both with good water pressure. Only complaint about the bathroom is we were on the 5th floor and for some reason it took 3 4 minutes for the hot water to get really hot. Strange but not a big deal. Staff was friendly and ready to serve at every opportunity, in typical Ritz Carlton fashion. Housekeepers were generous with the mini chocolates whenever we passed them in the hallway, which made them very popular with the kids! Breakfast buffet rivals some of the best we’ve seen. Pool isn’t extravagant but still nice, especially for a resort built more for winter activities right in the middle of the ski slopes. Lots of hiking and biking trails nearby. 10 15 minutes from Lake Tahoe and 15 20 minutes from Truckee, a fun historical town with lots of small shops and delicious restaurants. Spent a morning at the Ritz Club on Lake Tahoe and it was likewise beautiful and well appointed and luxurious. We had a great stay and would highly recommend! Can’t wait to come again.
The service at this hotel was excellent, from the front desk to housekeeping. Every employee with whom we interacted was great; however that was the only good thing about this hotel in my opinion. For over $1100 per night, I would have expected a much more luxurious, updated room. While the room was clean, the level of finish was about what I would expect at a Hilton Garden Inn, not a Ritz Carlton. In addition, the walls were super thin, and you could hear all kinds of noise both from other rooms and the hallway. We couldn’t sleep one night because of the thumping bass from the music on the TV in the room next door, which continued until past 5 AM, despite us calling the front desk at 3 AM to ask them to address it. We could hear every time someone upstairs or next door dropped something or opened or shut their bathroom doors. The a/c didn’t cool the room, despite being set on 68 degrees, and it was super hot at night. The grounds were unkempt and filled with weeds and debris. The spa in the basement had an overwhelming smell of mold or mildew, and the “relaxation room“ was so shabbily furnished that it was anything but relaxing. I didn’t take many photos while I was there, but I did take the attached photo of the sofa in the relaxation room, because I figured no one would believe me if I didn’t have a picture. My college apartment was better furnished than this! The food at the on-site restaurants was OK, but way over priced. All in all, I would not stay here again, especially for the price.
