I assure you, that was the best tempura I ever had. better than the best tempura restaurants. the atmosphere, the eating and the staff were perfect. I really hope to come back as soon as I can get away.
A gem and probably our favorite restaurant in japan. very interesting eating and happy location. in the traditional house around smokey fire sitting, tee and homemade mochi (creide cake) with the sound of chickens enjoying and the nearby river will be a remembrance that we will last for a long time. the hospitality was amazing and we felt more like long lost family than customers. a true amazing experience!
This place is absolutely incredible. it is located in a beautiful series of scrubs and run by a kind of old dame. they dinate in traditional tatami rooms and eat farm fresh everything, including the rice and the misery. the owner has greeted us personally. they have a great view of the chickens out there. a small hike in the nearby opposite to train the generous and delicious meal is more than worth it.
To call this place a hidden jem is an understatement. This is the epitome of hipsters and uniqueness. Nested amongst the forest by a waterfall, this lovely restaurant houses the most organic ingredients used in the dishes. Run by a 72 year old lady who is ever-welcoming, this place shouts HOME more than any other restaurants I 've been to. She was so hospitable, and her English is fluent because of her university experience. She is extremely mobile too considering the age! What I heard was that she will head out to the forest every morning to search for greens, which the greens that you will see in your dishes. I 'm not sure about the legitimacy of this story, and I never got to ask her. However, she did share how she got into this business. This place itself is 'up in the mountains '. You will have to pay it a visit if you want to experience an otherworldly service and restaurant location. Take your time to explore the premises when you 're here too! You 'd probably been taken aback while being transported to the 50s, pun intended.
Unique place. The restaurant itself is interesting: huts with roofs overgrown with foliage and streams with watermills. The area around the resto and along the river is also beautiful. We had spring themed lunch sets and everything tasted fresh and light.
