Los Nopales - Tucson

I ordered a chili relleno, beef taco, rice, and beans. Unfortunately, the relleno was drenched in red enchilada sauce, making it hard to distinguish and tasting like it came from a can after being overcooked. The taco was small but very crisp, containing only a small amount of shredded beef and some lettuce. I couldn't believe this was the same restaurant my friends on the West side had recommended. I apologize for the less-than-stellar review, but having lived in Tucson for 50 years and dining at dozens of Mexican eateries, my favorite remains Mi Nidito. Unfortunately, we won't be returning.

We were eager to try this restaurant after reading such glowing reviews. Following the GPS directions, we were pleasantly surprised to discover we didn't need to get on the freeway. After a 15-minute drive and another 10 minutes of searching, we finally arrived only to find a closed restaurant with a handwritten sign indicating they would be closed for the foreseeable future. It doesn't seem like they’ll be reopening anytime soon. The takeaway: if you're visiting from out of town, be sure to call ahead. We ended up dining at Si Charro instead.

Stopped here for lunch on the way to Tucson Mountain Park. It was very crowed at that time. We placed a to go order it was ready in about 10 minutes. The food was very good and reasonable. Would definitely stop there again.

We were in town for a few days visiting relatives and I was craving some good Mexican food. Last visit we chose the fancy restaurant and it was just OK. This time I was willing to try something different. Los Nopales was just the different I was looking for. Not your typical looking place from the outside, but let me tell you what a surprise this place turned out to be. Walked in, seated immediately due to ONE open table. The place was packed and the To Go orders were flying out the door. We had chips and salsa within 1minute. We had drinks within 3minutes, and our amazing food within 10minutes! Our local relatives were impressed! We did good and will definitely return upon visiting next time!

The service was quick, the staff friendly, and the food delicious. The quality of the meat and fish was excellent, and the restaurant was bustling with activity. The staff were very helpful, and it was clear that all the other guests were enjoying their meals as well.
