We waited 15 minutes and then talked to the lady at the gardens entrance and she wasn't sure about what time they opened. It is rather frustrating since we drive 40 minutes to find that they weren't open even through the website claimed they were. We have one of the more expensive memberships to Tohono Chul but I was informed by an employee that they are run separately. Their loss. We will not both to return to eat there again.
I thought I had written a review already, because there was a time that I came here a lot. It has its pro and cons. ProsIt's beautiful It's quiet There is a lot of outdoor diningInside the air conditioning is comfortable The food can be good and today it wasCons The food is inconsistentThe wait staff and service are inconsistentIt's a little expensive but what's not expensive anymore. The median age is around 70 of patrons, this is both pro and con. Pro being it makes me feel younger, con it makes me feel old. Weirdly both. I still really like it and you will probably like it too.
Coming from Orlando, Fl where we are surrounded by lakes and ocean on both sides to experience the flora in this park was just like going to another world. Who would have thought that in such an arid place there would be such diversity and vibrant colors. Absolutely beautiful and manicured in some places while wild and untouched in others.
Tohono Chul is already a great place and Glowing Pumpkins is the perfect event for it. We had a wonderful time walking the path surrounded by music and decorations. The giant calaveras were the best. It was like a Disney ride without the lines or machines or being crammed into a car with a bunch of other people. Just a beautiful walk under moonlight.I hope they continue to have this event at Tohono Chul. An employee told me they had Glowing Pumpkins at a mall last year. I wouldn't have gone to this at a mall.
Kinda quaint we did not eat at the Bistro, it was a nice space both in, and outdoor seating. The green house is pretty impressive, not big, but well organized. The plants were priced to sell. The lady at the ticket booth was accommodating. There is a child’s museum but it was outside and it was hot. We didn’t feel like sweating. They had pumpkin displays all overCute place, maybe on a cooler day we will return.
