Maunsell's Dining Pub Off Licence

Call in on way to Athlone for a bit to eat staff where friendly and the place was nice and homely. Got fish and chips from the carvery I think the guy serving was just helping out as the way he dished out the food on the plates was rough and ready. Wife got Shepard's pie and I got fish and chips , The wifes meal was ok but just ok. When I cut into the fish it was rock hard so I asked the lady cleaning the tables to change it but the next one was just as hard I took a couple off bits but it was like hard rubber. I had to make do with the few chips that came with it . Very disappointing ,

We used to visit here quite often, at least once a week, we moved away and hadn't visited in years, the food before was good, now it's excellent, it's great to go somewhere you have fond memories of, and it's even better than you remember.

Highly recommend this place for delicious food and great service. I had the cajun chicken today and apple crumble for dessert, both delicious

I Always try to call to maunsells if I 'm in the area , lunch is good value and quiet generous , with a good choice of meals. But breakfast is my favourite , especially THE MINI JUMBO The staff are always very friendly and efficient. Also it 's important to note at these times , the member of staff who met me at the door was very diligent and professional when it came to checking my Covid vaccination cert. So all said very happy with my experience in maunsells.
