Known for early hours and...an abundance of options, now hidden behind plastic but still self-service, it was at a cost of pesos that seven Pan Dulce plus a weighty slice of ChocoFlan were selected, its base akin to Tres Leches beneath slightly overcooked Custard. Not an English-friendly venue, though service is pleasant, Pastries continue a trend of inconsistency, the Concha and Raisin Roll each bone-dry while a Danish with Custard and Brownie with Crust fared only slightly better. Cash only, an Oreja for just pesos holding up well to Quintana Roo’s humidity, it is worth seeking out the rounded Cornmeal orb surrounding thick Caramel while the sprinkled Cookie is unfortunately far too hard and mealy to be enjoyed.
Great selection of conchas, orejas, and other typical Mexican pastries. Got some great items for breakfasts. Pricing is good too, pesos for most main items. Glad to support this local business.
Variety of baked goods- croissants, rolls, danishes. Excellent prices- though croissants were not France-grade, they were good.
We visited this place on our last day in mexico. We bought a bag of pastries for the staff at our boutique hotel to express our appreciation. Very cheap prices and the baked goods were tasty. Only thing that was concerning to me was that the doors were open all day and the windows too and flies were freely buzzing all over the baked goods which were not covered in any way. We decided to risk it since it looked like a very busy and popular place the last few days that we drove by it so we figured it was safe. I would give it 5 stars if it wasn't for that fly turn off. Now i was wondering if anyone knows the name of the crunchy yellow filling on their empanadas? It was so good and i would love to find a recipe but don't know what it was called or what was in it! They were the triangle puff pastries with yellow filling!!
We were taking the local bus service from Puerto Morelos back to Tulum and needed to transfer in Playa. We ended up strolling down to the beach. It is really beautiful. The sand is white and of fine texture. There is plenty of shopping, restaurants, and bars.
