Five Eyed Fox - Turners Falls

The atmosphere was fantastic, with a cozy vibe created by books, dark wood, and perfectly dimmed lighting. However, I was very disappointed to find there was no food available on a Saturday night. They also ran out of several drink options, but the bartender was friendly. Overall, I would rate the food a 1, service a 5, and atmosphere a 5.

We started with the Caesar salad, which was a generous portion, and we both enjoy kale, but it could have used more anchovy and lemon. For our main course, they offered steak frites, but we opted for the Steak Diane, which was similar. It felt odd to have two steak and fries dishes on the menu. While the steak was decent, the sauce was overly sour, as if the alcohol hadn’t been fully cooked off. The fries were soggy and lacked seasoning. The chicken of the woods mushrooms were flavorful but only added to the sourness of the sauce. It’s such a shame because the restaurant has a great atmosphere and solid cocktails! Unfortunately, we wouldn’t choose to come back.

This has quickly become my favorite restaurant in the Connecticut River Valley. The cocktails are excellent, and the food is locally sourced and absolutely delicious. I'm thrilled that we discovered this hidden gem!

One of the best restaurant service experiences I've ever had! I was in the area visiting family with my dog, and I decided to stop in Turners Falls. Getting dinner here was a last-minute decision and my options were limited with a dog with me. The staff immediately welcomed us on their beautiful covered porch and brought her water. The Italian sub I got was so tasty—their housemade bagette was the perfect balance of crispy and soft. I arrived not realizing the menu was heavily focused on Italian dishes, and while that normally isn't my thing it was still really delicious. I'll definitely come back for brunch and fried chicken!
