Sam Choy's Poke To The Max

Had the shoyu ahi bowl. Waikiki prices for mediocre poke. Rice was hard. Overpriced. I wish foodland poke was here. Regretting my $20

Not as good as I thought for Sam Choy. I expected something much more appealing. The SPAM fries was just way too salty!! My feet probably got swollen after eating the first one. The poke salad just was not fresh and just not the quality you expect for the Sam Choy name. Can't say I'll be back for the foreseeable future.

I've been trying all the different local poke place and this one was my least favorite so far. The salad I got was basically just the ahi with some sauce, lettuce, a couple tomatoes and large slices of cucumbers. It seems like most poke places give you a lot of add on options that are more authentic like ginger, seaweed, edamame, crab salad, masago, etc. so it's not just ahi and rice or ahi and salad. Here there were only a couple add on options and all were additional cost on an already nearly 30 dollars. The ahi was good but other than that I'd say stick with GoPoke or Just Poke where you get more for less.

While the poke was super tasty, it was very expensive for the amount of actual fish I received. There were big chunks of onion in there to make it appear more voluminous, and the seaweed salad and pickled veg that it was supposed to come with was served on top of a bunch of lettuce so it LOOKED like way more was in there. Classic trick. I also got the fried chicken musubi, and while it was delicious, I ended up just eating the filling because the way it was wrapped (meat sandwiched between rice and then wrapped in nori rather than meat on top made it so there was nothing solid to back the nori and make it easy to bite through. It was a big mess. I do like the option to buy alcoholic seltzer, though (very refreshing! . Overall, I'd rather go to another place where I can get more bang for my buck.
