Yami Japanese Restaurant - UNDERWOOD

The food is absolutely delicious! The service here is very quick and kind! I love coming here! The environment is absolutely gorgeous and comfortable. They have a good variety of foods here and so far, every one I've tried has been great!

Since I was working in Springwood for a day, we decided to try something different and local in the area. Yami seemed like a good choice. It's tucked away next to the Hotel HQ and Pokies and we initially had some trouble finding it. It was quiet when we came in so we were seated right away. You can order at the counter or wait for the server to come to you. I really liked the cherry blossom decor which added a quaint feel to it. I had the teriyaki chicken bento box which was really unique to any other bento box I've ever had. For starters, it was packed into a round bamboo box like the ones you see in Yum Cha restaurants. It had tempura vegetables, takoyaki, salad, sushi and rice and it included miso soup as well. For the price of $23, it was quite good and a good size for someone who doesn't have a big appetite compared to most people. You get quite a a bit of onion in the bento box which some people may not like but I didn't mind. The teriyaki chicken was tender. If you want someone different from the conventional Japanese bento boxes, I would come here. I would return again to try the sizzling dishes in the future.

Really nice interior, so cute! I think it's run by Koreans. Straight forward service and nicely presented food. The flavors were nice. The udon had quite a lot of onion. The main thing that impacted our experience was that the yakiudon we ordered had mild chilli added. I didn't mind the spice at all. Our LO was hungry and had requested noodles so we ordered for her. She had a little meltdown. The staff did acknowledge they didn't think she would be eating it and added some chilli. High chair provided. Plastic bowl but not cutlery. Toilet and parents room nearby in the Hotel HQ next door. It's not particularly cheap so with lots of options a few more minutes drive away not sure if I'll return. instagram.com

Had a Katsu Chicken Curry and it was good however the non optional chili flakes (like every other Japanese restaurant ever) sprinkled over the entire dish killed me from inside out even after trying to scrape off what I could. Service and waiting time for dishes was great!
