I can enjoy a hotel for what it is but I had to change rooms because it was filthy and the second room was marginally better. It’s close to the airport but far from where you would want to be in Columbus. Staff was helpful but this is a very old, dated, musty, hotel. One of the dirtiest hotels I’ve ever stayed in. Carpet stains, bugs, no linens. One of those places we weren’t comfortable being barefoot.
I had many problems while visiting this hotel, but there were a few people who made it better. My reservation included access to the M Club Lounge and they denied me the ability to go in it. I complained at the front desk to manager Joy that my reservation includes the M Club Lounge, and she stated that M Club lounge was on my reservation in error and I should not have gotten it. Joy was rude, and even told me that she was not sorry and she doesn 't care. Instead, she should have accommodated me in some way. Joy herself deserve 0 stars. She was horrible. THEN I requested a late check out, and the hotel allowed me to check out at 12:30pm. I left my hotel room at about 8:30am to pack my vehicle up with my luggage, run errands, and put the 'DO NOT DISTURB sign on the outside of my door. The only thing I left in my room was some food in the fridge, that I planned on eating later on. I returned to my hotel room at 12:00pm and the DND sign was gone. I enter my room, and the room is cleaned, and my food was thrown out. At this point, I am in extremely upset between the lack of customer service I received from Joy last night, to the DND sign being removed from my door, to my food being thrown out, when I wasn 't supposed to check out until 12:30pm. I then went downstairs to the front desk and spoke with Teyana. She remained calm and listened to my concerns. Even though I was extremely upset, she did an AMAZING job at diffusing the situation. She ensured me that she would give me a call once she talked to her manager, Cassandra. Teyana called me back about 30 minutes later, and told me that the hotel is giving me a free meal from the restaurant in the lobby, AND adding extra points to my Bonvoy account. Teyana turned a bad situation into a good one. I went back to the hotel, and spoke with Cassandra who gave me the best customer service I ever received. She personally walked me to the restaurant, sat me, and brought a waiter over to me to take my order. She even gave me a complimentary drink because of the issues I had with not getting my M Club access. She went above and beyond. THANK YOU to Teyana, Cassandra, and Rosalynn (who was not mentioned, but she continued to check on me as well). You three ladies made my day!
I have stayed here several times. One visit we did not have hot water. When I complained upon departure I was told I would be compensated with points...did not happen. Decided to try the hotel again because of location and price. Usually when looking at prices they list that parking will be an additional fee....this did not. They did not charge for parking in the past. Upon arrival I was told there would be a charge for parking. To avoid this we parked off premises. On Saturday we checked to make sure that the parking would not be on our bill. The front desk said they would remove it. The next day upon checking out the parking remained on the bill. When I told the girl about it was supposed to be removed and we parked off hotel property she asked where we parked. I told her across the street by the conference center she said that was hotel property. I questioned this as it is public property which was confirmed by a witness. She glared at him and said she was going to speak to the assistant manager. Was informed after a long wait they could not adjust the bill and I was welcome to speak to the manager. They said it didn't matter where we parked that if we had a car we would be charged. They had too many people parking there that were not hotel guests which we witnessed several people doing. Meanwhile Marriott is punishing there customers instead of rectifying the parking issue for nonpaying guests. They have no way of knowing who is a guest or not. The parking is an issue which needs to be resolved but not at the expense of the guests. Had they been upfront about the parking like other hotels this would not be an issue. What is also wrong the lies that were being told by the hotel staff. They were rude and very unprofessional. We will not be staying there more for the lack of professional behavior and the unwillingness to work this out.
The room was fine. Convenient to the convention center. Breakfast was good. There's not much seating, so if you need to take a to-go box. We didn't one day and lost out on the meal because there was a 15-minute wait. If your room is on the pool side, it can be noisy past the 10pm closing time. We were on the 3rd floor.
Generally nice. Staff was friendly. No problems with the room. Neighbor guests were quite loud, but hotel helped when informed. I’m not sure about all rooms, but if you’re in a mill room the train goes by at 1130 and 130 and blows its whistle. Normally I like trains… Pool and Mclub lounge were good.
