Beautiful large open bright neighborhood bar. They smoke ALLOW and most people used it. You have a restaurant side. Nice cheese steak. I don't know if it was the amount, noise or smoke, but I think the cheese steak needed a little more taste. Appropriate conditions, but could have used some more meat. Rolls, mushrooms, fried onions, salads and tomatoes were abundant and fresh. Carole got the fish and chips and they were very delicious.

Love all the big screens that show sports. Always go to have a drink or 2 n watch a sports game.. Good bartenders

Cawley's is an iconic Irish institution in the heart of the Irish community in the Highland Park section of Ober Darby Township. There are two main areas in the bar area and in the restaurant area. There are at every table or at the bar itself. The restaurant was recently renovated. Renovation (at COVID 19) has a fresh new look at the dining area when providing more dining area. I think the bar in the restaurant area has been changed to some of this extra place.. Smoking is no longer allowed. Cawley's has daily menu item specialties including dinner entrees. While the soups also turn when the cream of the potato soup is on the soup menu, it is a must. Wing lovers should also experience Cawley's wing and if you are lucky, Jerk Wings will be on the special menu. Recently they appear on Wednesday. Ham and cabbage will be presented on Tuesday, but could overflow until Wednesday or Thursday (no worries as the meat is delivered fresh every week). Overall, Cawley's is a great place for family and friends. You are welcome and each staff member is friendly and invites a relaxing place to eat, drink and enjoy You!

From 2018: Long-standing establishment with nice bar and restaurant together. Good food and good prices. Try their fish and chips, they are excellent. Update as of 03/2022: Very much the same as my review four years ago, 5-star excellence!
