Mi Jalisco - Urbanna

We enjoyed the food so much that we didn't have time to take any photos of it.

We were at a cottage on the Rappahannock River not far from Urbana. We had originally planned to eat at a different restaurant (which is now unfortunately closed), but when we drove past Mi Jalisco, we decided to give it a try. We were very pleased with our decision! I can't say for certain if it's the best Mexican food I've ever had, but I can't recall having a better meal. We arrived for lunch at 11:45 on a Friday and were seated right away, although the restaurant quickly filled up. There were still some tables available inside and on the terrace, but I imagine there would have been a wait on a Saturday. They brought out fresh and delicious chips and salsa as we looked over the menu. The white sauce commonly found in the Tidewater area was a bit sweet for my taste, but other diners seemed to enjoy it. I opted for the chicken and rice special, playing it safe in a new restaurant. It was fantastic! The rice, in particular, was outstanding. The guacamole served on the side was also excellent and seemed to be a cut above others I've tried. Even though it was delicious, I didn't finish it so I could save room for dessert. The flan was perfect! I had no idea it could be so good - creamy with just a hint of bitterness from the caramelized sugar sauce. If it weren't for the 90-minute drive, we would have returned for a second visit. The service was attentive, the atmosphere was lovely, and the restaurant was spotlessly clean with bright colors. The chairs were comfortable enough that I would love to return for a drink or two if we're ever in the area again. What a pleasant surprise to stumble upon such delicious food!

During our stay in the Chesapeake area, we decided to follow my GPS and walk 0.3 miles to this restaurant. We enjoyed large margaritas and delicious food. The service was excellent! We were happy to burn off the calories by walking three miles after the fantastic drinks.

Beautiful little restaurant. was very busy but fast service and attention. look forward to the next year when I am in town to visit again
