The Ash Pub - Uttlesford

I recently enjoyed a wonderful meal at The Ash. I tried a new dish - vegetarian sausages with mashed potatoes, vegetables, and two delicious homemade Yorkshire puddings. It was refreshing to see something different on the menu, as many places only offer veggie burgers as an option. I was pleased to see The Ash providing multiple choices for vegetarians.

I made a reservation online 6 weeks in advance for an early dinner, but when we arrived, they had no record of it. After showing them the confirmation message, they were able to seat us as the dining room was empty. We had an early dinner and some menu items were already sold out. I ordered the beef roast dinner, which was good overall, but the roast potatoes seemed reheated and the parsnips were overcooked. My husband had the steak and mushroom pie which he found to be dry with hard pastry. The price of £48.00 for a pint of beer and a glass of wine felt a bit high for the quality of the food. We don't plan on returning due to our experience with the cooking.

Excellent proprietary bitter and bruschetta to die for. Very nice place for a pub lunch!

Stopped off for a drink after work. Lovely friendly pub with a nice restaurant and sunny garden at the back. Will be going again.
