What a wonderful place to eat. The food is amazing, the service is fantastic. It’s a place to go for very special occasions as it is quite pricey, but it is so worth it. I can’t compliment David, his wife and the rest of the team enough. Spot on Pinch Bowl!
There was 12 of us for christmas sunday lunch on 8th December, we was all crammed on a table where one side of us could not get out to go to the toliet as there was no room to more our chairs and one lady had christmas decorations digging in her head as so close to the wall and 3 large men were put on a small square table at the end of this table and struggled to eat their meals. When the meals were served up, two of us had roast sirloin which was grisly and cut like doorsteps, we had two knifes but struggled to cut the meat, so could not eat it, also we had two yorkshire puddings that were black as been burnt but when we complain about this, we did not even get an apology from the owner, he just said, sarcastically, did we want it sliced thiner. our bill came to £904 so you would think he would be a bit more concerned. We WILL NOT be going back there
Set in the beautiful rural village of High Easter, the restaurant. A listed tudor building, being part of the chocolate box setting you have fairly high expectations when you enter but these were surpassed in high measure. I like a bit of fuss and to be spoilt, who doesn't! As soon as we entered a variety of drinks and cocktails were mentioned, alcoholic and non by one of the bow-tied waiters. We had olives and home-made crisps offered to us at our bar table. Then the manager came over with the menus to take our orders. The choices were varied and of high calibre and enjoyed, I'm a vegetarian and was very happy with my selection. Throughout the meal the service was wonderful and at the end they brought in a trolley abound with wonderful desserts. We passed on coffee and they brought over a tray of sweet treats to finish our meal off. Even though the restaurant was busy we felt we got first class service and no doubt will be back quite soon.
We come here regularly with friends for our pre Christmas treat, we've never been disappointed. This is a traditional English restaurant in the Essex countyside. A glass of champagne on arrival, lovely atmosphere and great food. David is a very good host and makes sure that the drinks are flowing all evening. There is an extensive menu, with good vegetarian choices. The food is locally sourced, fresh, well cooked and nicely presented. Try the fish dishes, they're very good. All the staff are very friendly and polite, nothing is too much trouble. This is a very popular restaurant (always a good sign). Plenty of free parking in the restaurants car park. Highly recommended
