Snd to top it off, little cinnamon donuts with dip, yum! Very reasonable in price. Good local beer on tap. We will be back for sure and thank you Alicia for great service and a stellar attitude!
I was visiting the west end for business and running solo on a Thursday night. I saw good reviews on the beer and appies. in particular the triple fried fries. The menu is more for sharing and snacks but they just happened to have a special: Short ribs on triple fried fries and slaw for $25. I was hungrier than a snack so I decided to go all in. Short rib special and 2 pints of 33Acres of Darkness. First let's deal with the ambience. great little location that was hopping in no time with lots of locals. I was there about 6 pm. The servers were awesome, attentive and generally interested in ensuring you were happy with your meal and drink.Next the beer. can't go wrong with the 33 acre of darkness if you like a dark lager with notes of coffee. very good. Now on to the impressive beast that was laid before me. massive short rib that literally disintegrated when you touched it with your fork. FYI this is a full sized plate! They give you a finger bowl but honestly you probably couldn't lift it off the plate with out it falling apart. So I ate with a knife and fork - weird I know but let's remember I am dining alone so that is strange enough.See the pic you won't believe it. Highly recommended. I couldn't finish it but it was awesome! I did finish the triple fried fries and only part of the slaw. all awesome.
This place is definitely the gem of the West End. Saddle up to the bar and make instant friends with the staff and patrons alike. This place will make you feel instantly at home even if you are visiting from halfway around the Globe. The Blind Sparrow will give you a glimpse into the everyday lives of local Vancouverites. Andrew, the bar manager, will make you feel like you are the most important person in the room. Best Happy Hour in Town from 3-6pm daily.
Had a really great experience at The Blind Sparrow last nightThe restaurant was cozy and happening from the outside.
We visited The Blind Sparrow on a recommendation from the barman at our hotel and what a gem it was! Fantastic food, cocktails and wine with a friendly service. Would recommend as a 'must do' to anyone visiting Vancouver who has a love for good food. The small sharing plates were delicious.
