Portion sizes are big and the price point is great.Chicken Doria was creamy with perfect toastiness from the bake. It's very rich so it fills you up fast so don't let the size of the dish fool you.Hayashi rice with hamburg steak was also on point. This is a dish that's too bothersome to make at home so it's always a treat to order it. Lovely deep flavour, perfect consistency to flavor both the hamburg steak and coat the rice. Also ordered the croquettes these were rice based rather than potato which is an instant plus for me. Crispy and satisfyingly crunchy exterior, while inside is creamy with just enough texture from the rice and veg to match the flavour. For dessert we got the Zunda Dango Parfait. If you like Japaneae desserts, you'll like this one. The Zunda (sweet crushed edamame) gives a great texture on the tongue and when chewed great for eating with the other more smooth and chewy parts of this dessert. The Dango and red bean compliment the other parts of this dessert, and there's just the right amount of ice cream. My only slight complaint (very small because it's still good) is that there was a bit too much black sugar syrup which made the overall dessert really sweet once you got to the bottom of the bowl. However I'm someone who prefers unsweetened things so likely this isn't an issue with most peopleWe did also order the curry poutine for someone at home and they enjoyed it very much. I didn't try it so no comment from me on the taste. The staff there are down to earth and very lovely. Thoughtful as well. They make the experience very enjoyable so I tend to tip pretty well there. The ambiance isn't the most stellar there but I'm going for the tasty food. It's a lot more crowded inside than I remember but since they're always bustling and busy it's probably for the better that they added more seats and tables.Anyways if you're still on the fence, I'd say try it out. It's tucked away from the main traffic streets (nearest are Granville and W. 70th Ave) so it's quite quiet compared to its old location. There is a small parking lot outside but it can get full quickly so you may want to park further and walk over since it's near a nice park and makes for a pleasant stroll during the warmer months.Kid friendliness: This is a family style restaurant so there are usually a few kids at any given moment. Most of the menu items are pretty popular with most kidsParking: I'm usually lucky and get a spot in the lot parking in front, but there aren't many spots. I believe street parking is available and free if you can find it
Every food with Hambuger steak is awesome. Curry rice, hayashi rice, and cream spagetti !!!I went to last saturday and visited next day, sunday, again.
This place popped up randomly on my maps and I'm glad it did! This was their first day back since closing for vacation and although we did have to put our names down, we got a seat only a few short minutes later. The tables were placed quite close to each other so it's quite cozy inside! My best friend and I shared a chicken karaage, creamy tomato pasta, hayashi on rice with a hamburger steak, and their summer special mango parfait. Everything was delicious and very affordable compared to most places. Our favourite was the dessert with it's many textures and freshness! The staff were also friendly and attentive I highly recommend giving this place a try and I'll likely visit again sometime soon!
We have been visiting this amazing place for the last 4 years, love it since the first time. The food is great, and the desserts are delicious, so many options, and there are always new ones to try ?... 100% recommend ?
