Exceptional food, atmosphere and service. great location, parking garage above the street. hotels in a block, along with the congress center, cruise ship terminal, skytrain, ferry to northen vancouver.
Our only surprise was a small population on Saturday night. that was great. it's a Grat location. we suspect if not winter months. we would not hesitate to return, even in such a grat restaurant city.
Overall the restaurant was acceptable. eating was okay, but it was missing taste and season. the ambiente was nice and the server was good, but only one server tried to cover the entire restaurant and server as barkeeper. he did a good job, but the result was diners were neglected. the restaurant has a long history, but it felt like it would rely too much on its pastness. while there can have original recipes, there is a certain art, preparation that was missing.
The place was extremely under staffed (only two servers and perhaps the owner, serving the whole restaurant that was almost full), the lobster bisque is runny but with clumps of starches in the soup, the halibut that I ordered was way over cooked (it's chewy and tasteless), , and the food came really slow and took 2.5 hours to finish 3 courses.
