HmmNot sure how/why I came hereShouldn't listened to my gut when I walked in.
Don't come after noon - they won't be pushing the cart around (you will have to order instead,) some items will be unavailable, and the wait staff will be
You know how when the city slicker walks into the country bar, the music screeches to a stop and all eyes turn towards the door? That's how we felt when we walked in early one Sunday morning, and the eyes of seemingly every Chinese man in Vancouver over the age of 70 were upon us. But that's also what makes this authentic - if it's good enough for them . . .If you know your dim sum, and that's all you're looking for, then by all means go. Luckily, that was the case for us, and it was east to overlook the dingy rundown atmosphere of this place as the food was great and we were warmly welcomed. No food on carts - you have to know what you want from the menu. For those inexperienced in the ways of dim sum or who are looking for the cart experience, there are other options.
I've been coming here for years.I introduced dim sum to all.my kids here. Dim sum here is ordered and prepared to order. I kinda miss the traditional dim sum carts but made to order means its fresh from the steamer. I've come here for dinner with family as well. The service is great and as im a regular, I always get a window seat. I highly recommend Garden Villa to anyone visiting Chinatown.
