Update 2023-09-07The restaurant has changed a lot since I wrote my initial review over 5 years ago. They still do have Vegan options, though it was not clear on the menu. The focus now seems to be on the omnivore dishes. After waiting 20 minutes to order we just walked out as no one came to take our order. Unfortunately the service seems to have gotten worse over the years. Though we didn't get to try the food, other recent reviews seem to point to it's quality being much worse than when I previously reviewed the location. I no longer recommend or plan on visiting Heirloom.I was pleasantly surprised upon entering the restaurant as it is spacious and the décor was tasteful. The menu is interesting with many different options. I took the Meatball Mancheronni which was great and my fiance took the Heirloom Burger. Both of them were very good. Service was good and I look forward to going again.
Listen. I’m a dairy free gluten free person who has been coming here since it opened. I live in the neighbourhood and have brought MANY out of town guests and locals who AREN’T vegan for years as an option to eat something healthier and more conscious. They have all LOVED Heirloom. Frankly I’m shocked to see reviews of vegans smiting a business for being more inclusive....the irony is not lost on me by these martyr vegans who have the luxury it seems of CHOOSING what they eat. I on the other hand have a severe autoimmune disease that can mostly be managed by what I eat so I don’t have a choice. Having meat being offered here now OPENS up the options for me because even though I frequent this establishment, I could previously only eat one or two things on the menu. Have I ever posted an in immature and emotional review trying to cast shade on a business for doing GOOD BUSINESS? No.For anyone reading these reviews looking to determine whether Heirloom is a good place it is. I’ve had some of the best service in the area here and the food has always been satisfying and top notch. Their fresh made juices are super delicious as well. For all the self righteous Vegans on a soap box, get over it. Go to another place where you feel your beliefs are being pandered to. God forbid a business cater to the other 98% of the demographic to stay afloat and stay open....
The service was cordial and professional, they were super cool with the fact that we had two toddlers super active and loud. The food was good, flavours were balance, and everything was tasty……with that said, don’t go there thinking that this place will blow your mind, the recipes are super well executed but are far from being a memorable culinary experience.Portions were super generous and the decor is very informal.I will definitely will go back (when I’m back in Vancouver) and I hope you give it a try if you are in town.I would give this place a solid 3.5.
Great space and beautifully decorated. Totally like the vibe. Service was good- I think on a Saturday brunch you can simply ask if we want to start with drinks (aka coffee) vs leaving menus and wait another 5 min. It’s not a big deal but nice to get your coffee started ?Food was good, as a vegetarian who is not specifically seeking for meat alternatives and over saturated flavors to decoy the non meat point- I found there is a bit too much oil (I guess it is appealing for some) and chaos on the plate. But overall 4 out of 5.
