Junsei River Japanese - Vancouver

Quiet, clean and cheap. Large combo plates that were very tasty. Ramen soups were hot and tasty and a good size. The prices were amazing and if you whinge about the price then your living in the wrong city. Great lunch.

First impression was, if I'm in a Japanese restaurant, why then is there a big picture of Singapore in the restaurant??? I was not able to tell if kitchen staff is indeed Japanese or Chinese? Usually we are able to tell as we are of Asian descent. And by listening to staff talk, we would know from language. Any event, the food was ok & not that authentic which is why we looked for clues as to staff origin. I ordered the salmon teriyaki & spicy tuna sushi. The salmon was so thin that it was almost crispy in texture, the spicy tuna was the worst I've had. My wife & dad had the chicken teriyaki which was descent. We all enjoyed the miso soup. Anyhow, don't think we will be returning for a second meal nor would we recommend it to our friends/family. The restaurant was clean & accept credit card payments. Lunch had selection of bento boxes too. Price is not that cheap either. For most of the sushi rolls $3.45. Individual sushis at around $1.45. Coke was $1.50 per can.

O restaurante é bonito e calmo. O sashimi é fresco e estava uma delícia. Mas o arroz do sushi não estava fresco. Parecia que tinham temperado-o há um tempão. Não gostei mesmo do sushi. No entanto, o preço era bacana...

This little place was nice, nothing fancy, but acceptable. The service was good, friendly staff, very accommodating too my shellfish allergy concerns, as most restaurants are.The only thing is the food had no flare, it was average in every way, nothing wrong with it, just seemed like if they jazzed up their presentation and their flavours ( sauces and spices ), it would pick up its game too a 4 star easy, just a little would go a long way. We ordered the family boat, and scene no sauces, like spicy mayo, or teriyaki. Pretty basic touches.Outside of that I would say it's a ok alternative too a place you want too go, but is too busy. Like I said, a little imagination and a few minor additions would easily bring them ahead.

El lugar es tranquilo, el servicio es un poco seco pero son eficientes. La comida está bien, las porciones son grandes. Los baños están sucios y los empleados dejan artículos personales en el baño como si fuera bodega (tennis y cosas así).
