La Pavillion - Vancouver

This is a historic hotel, so of course the amenities will not be so up-to-date. The beds were very comfortable and the TV was very nice. Our room service and maids were best missing. One day our room was not cleaned at all, and on another occasion we had to call to get new towels.

About 3 decades ago, the Four Seasons Hotel closed the best restaurant in the city, La Pavillion, because (I was told) the Yuppies (Hipsters of the 1980s) thought it was too formal. What a loss! It was indeed very formal and very expensive, but the food... and the service... oh my! Hamid, the best server in history, would prepare its legendary gin tomato soup on your table. Other places now serve their own versions of Gin tomato soup, but they are nothing like Hamid 's. The other specialties were also great, but I will never forget the gin tomato soup. You can think it is a waste of time to review a restaurant that has been closed for decades. If so, you probably also think that Shakespeare has nothing to offer modern readers. Size is eternal. The food was amazing! Came into town from Cleveland and Took some customers to the Tavern and everyone loved their meal.
