Truly a hole in the wall, and definitely not much to look at inside. I was craving for curry so...I ordered their yellow curry with beef, while my girlfriend ordered the Mali pad Thai with pork and we shared an order of spring roll. Worth mentioning is the spring roll were vegetarian, came piping hot and it's not too oily or greasy. Yellow curry had the right amount of kick for me, very very tasty. Mali pad Thai was excellent. This is made with traditional tamarind sauce, rather than the westernized ketchup sauce with lots of veggies and meat. Overall a very pleasant surprise and we will be back for sure to try some of their other dishes.
I have a love for Thai food. I think it’s partly the comfort of eating yummy curries with mountains of carbs. Not to mention the spicy heat and the combination of hot and sour flavours that you don’t always get in other cuisine. We stopped...by Mali Thai on Main Street in mid-March for some Thai take-out and ordered some of our go-to items when it comes to Thai food: Chicken Satay $11.95) – I liked how the chicken pieces here marinated in coconut milk) were super tender and not dry. Tom Yum Goong $10.95) – A pretty good version of hot and sour soup. Thai Spring Rolls $9.95) – While the spring rolls were crispy, I found that the filling in some of the pieces were not evenly distributed as some bites only had bean thread noodles whereas other bites had both bean thread noodles and cabbage. Red Duck Curry $18.95) – I always love ordering this dish although I wish that it came with lychee). The creamy curry sauce also had pineapple, bamboo shoots, peas, tomato, carrots, and basil. Pad Thai Prawns $18.95) – They use a tomato-based sauce for their pad thai so if you’re a pad thai snob that only likes tamarind sauce, you might be disappointed. Overall, we were pleased with the food that we got here.
I love eating Thai food. There is something comforting about enjoying delicious curries with loads of carbs, not to mention the spicy heat and unique combination of flavors that you can't find in other cuisines. We recently visited Mali Thai on the main street for a Thai food adventure and ordered some of our favorite dishes: chicken satay ($11.95) - the chicken pieces marinated in coconut milk were tender and juicy. Tom Yum Goong ($10.95) - a good version of the hot and sour soup. Thai spring rolls ($9.95) - crispy on the outside, but some pieces had uneven filling distribution. Red duck curry ($18.95) - a creamy curry with pineapple, bamboo shoots, peas, tomatoes, carrots, and basil. Pad Thai prawns ($18.95) - the sauce was tomato-based which may disappoint those who prefer tamarind-based pad thai. Overall, we were satisfied with the food at Mali Thai.
This small family-run restaurant did a fantastic job with our takeout order. Everything we tried was delicious, with generous portions that were not too heavy. They also made an effort to use eco-friendly packaging, which was very appreciated. We will definitely be returning!
I love dining at this restaurant. It may be small, but it offers a wide variety of food options. I always order the lunch special, where you can choose your protein and it comes with a drink, salad, and the most delicious dessert ever. The portion sizes are generous. Additionally, the young waitress who works there is very friendly!
