Feedback gevenJust had dinner at Shandi's with a couple of friends. It was GREAT! The curries tasted fresh and fabulous. Definitely could tell they were made from scratch with quality spices. The Chai Tea was good and hot - just the way I like it. The onion pakoras were nice way to start off for my friend who had never tried Indian food. Loved the casual seating on long tables. The staff were very nice. We highly recommend Shandi's for a quick meal that is tasty and is way better for you than fast food burger joints.
This hole on the wall restaurant has some of the most authentic Indian food I have every eaten in Vancouver. The menu is not extensive but the quality is stunning. If you have a wine you wish to open they have a BYO surcharge as well :)
My wife try and get here every week for a beer date before taking home dinner for us and the kids. We all adore it. The Korma is very good for kids because its not too spicy. Fish curry perfect for us. There is so much love put into this food. You can taste the difference. Love it and see you again soon!
If Vikram Vij is the king of Indian cuisine, then the queen and her team at this restaurant are the new royalty. Run by three individuals, including a chef owner reminiscent of Vikram in his early days, Shant's Curries delivers delicious dishes. The menu may be small, but the prices are modest. The spices and ingredients all taste fresh and have a creative yet traditional touch to them. They offer a nice selection of beer by the bottle, but even better, you can bring your own wine for just an $8 corkage fee. It's hard to believe it took me three years to discover this gem, but I will definitely be returning when I'm on Main Street, the best food street in Vancouver. Long live the Queen and her team!
Simple formula here. Clean, pleasant venue. Small menu. Fresh ingredients. Authentically and beautifully cooked. Service with a smile. What more does one want? I complain about the paucity of quality Indian restaurants in Vancouver - this is far and away the best one i've tried so far. If you seek Westernised Indian food, you won't like it. If you want healthy, clean South Indian with that home-cooked touch, this is the place for you. Should be much higher in the rankings of Vancouver restaurants.
