Tried out a variety of items, but for the quality, quantity, and pricing, it’s just okay compared to what you can get elsewhere. The maki is smaller than other places and it just seemed like they tried to cut costs everywhere. The ginger they give is little and doesn’t taste very good, if you want extra do keep in mind that’s extra charge!House roll: variety of fish, not badChopped scallop: it’s okay, not really chopped though and does not have as fresh sweetnessSpicy tuna: very inconsistent sauce in each pieceI added in some of the menu for you to see!Atmosphere: smaller place so can’t fit too many people ~IG: Mishinnoms
Delicious and fresh! The chutoro and otoro were a real treat. The staff are friendly and the quail eggs were the perfect touch to our nigiri!
I almost don't want to review this place so it can stay a secret but happy to support them. Thrilled they have re-opened and are offering take out. This is the one of the best sushi places in Vancouver. The fish is incredibly fresh and high quality. Don't expect a lot of quantity here, this is the more traditional Japanese sushi and it's wonderful. The menu features special seafood such as uni and otoro. The Saba is my favourite. If you want to dine in, I recommend a reservation to avoid disappointment. The place is quite small and dining times are 1.5 hours.
Just had a NYE dinner here with my family and 100% this place is worth a visit. It’s small and unassuming, there is Japanese pop playing on the speakers, and there are only a few tables plus a bar. Yuji-san is the only sushi chef, so people who are used to conveyor belt sushi may feel that their orders take time. In honesty, we were not kept waiting long, and each piece was so beautifully seasoned and the fish was so fresh that it was worth the wait. This is sushi for sushi purists. It’s Japanese to it’s core (the fish and rice and seaweed are so fresh and savoury that it’s clear each ingredient is well respected) and it is not gimmicky at all. No special rolls full of tempura bits and sauce, no pizzas, and no birria, cheese, or whatever the latest fad is. If you like simplicity, value freshness, and want to watch a master at work who has pride in his craft serve you delicious, HONEST food, this is the place to go.One diner said “it’s my new favourite sushi place in Vancouver”Another said “this is some of the best sushi of my life.”I say that this is what I’d like to see sushi return to. Crazy rolls have their place, but ultimately the stars are the rice, the fish, and the seaweed. Also interestingly, the wasabi is freshly grated and the ginger looks homemade (not neon pink) and tender.
Was searching far and wide for omakase places that didn't necessarily break our wallets. Although Sushi by Yuji isn't necessarily an omakase place per se, it had that option. And for $50 bucks too! We got a variety of sushi pieces, some blow torched, some not. We wanted a specific sushi we saw on their social media, which was chopped up fatty tuna with quail egg on top. Each piece of fish we tasted was delicious. My favourite was the engawa (last one pictured). I've never had it before, but it's a part of a flounder and it melted in my mouth
