The Irish Heather - Vancouver

We try to resist Irish bars when on holiday but this was a genuinely lovely bar that was not tacky Irish. Great whisky collection-one of the largest I have seen outside Scotland. Friendly staff and the Guinness wasn't bad either

Our server was a fantastic girl from Ireland, she was charming and lively. Our bartender was Irish as well, and poured an excellent pint of Guinness. Love the fact that there are no screens up everwhere, music was at a volume you could still speak over. Oh an they have authentic Tayto crisps. Regrets? Only that I hadn't discovered how magical this place was before now. A real treat, especially if you have been to a real Irish pub before, and know the truth.

Located in the heart of Gastown just within sight of the Gassy Jack statue. Lot of the staff are Irish and they sell Tayto crisps! No TV which is not a bad thing. Genuinely feels like an Irish pub.

The Irish Heather accommodated a party of 11 after our booking at the Irish Pub 2 doors down had been mixed up/lost. Nonetheless, the serving staff seemed a bit impatient to take our order and the atmosphere was a bit frenetic. I ordered the steak and Guinness pie which came as a pasty boat filled with meat stew and topped with dry and reheated mashed potato. Others had fish and chips which had soggy batter and all the portions were on the small side. We left hungry and unimpressed.
