The Reef Restaurant - Vancouver

My husband told how good the food was but the food is great and wonderful..the best seafood on the coaste..

We love The Reef, but had not been in many years since we moved from Vancouver. We recently had dinner there before a concert, and were happy to see it was just as good as we remembered it! I ordered the burger, and I was blown away by how incredibly delicious it was. Without exaggeration, it is one of the best burgers I have had in ages. The johnny cakes were as amazing as ever, as were the cocktails!

Came here by the recommendation from others, and left thinking, I don’t think I’ll be back. Arrived and we were 1 of 2 tables. Appetizers took long to get to us, and our entrees took about an hour. Absolutely ridiculous. The food itself was decent. The Jonny cakes were yummy deep fried dough balls. They serve an amazing hot sauce as a condiment. awesome sauce. I had the aki and salt fish. It was tasty, but it was a meagre serving, with twice as much rice and coleslaw. And that for $19! Scratch this place off my list. The street with thugs walking around, homeless people and hipsters smoking pot didn’t help to elevate the mood.

We went to The Reef on the recommendation of a friend and were pleasantly surprised at a number of things. First, the decor is funky and fun, and the music playing matches the theme of the restaurant. Our server was not only very good, she was highly entertaining and a lot of fun. And the food well, that was a revelation. Having not much experience with this cuisine, the Jerk Chicken in a bun was excellent as were the other items chosen by our tablemates Seadogs, a Diego Burito and Dominica Beef were all very tasty. Topped off with Plantain Chips and a deep fried banana with Mango ice cream for dessert, we were all pleasantly full of good food by the end of the meal. Highly recommended for good quality food that's a bit different , the funky environment and the excellent service. Will go again for sure.

Visited for the first time for dinner while in Vancouver. Large menu with many items that looked worth trying. Stayed quickly. Mahi came out in about 15-20 from order taken. Friendly service. Could've used one more sever since the 3 seemed to be pretty busy and dining room is a fair size. Meal was flavourful and a good price. Would've liked to try a few other items, but wouldn't have had much room. Another time.
