Food was good but the reason for the 3 stars is the fact it was sooooo cold in the restaurant and made it VERY uncomfortable.
Last Saturday was wet and cold and we decided to revisit CMD to give this popular spot another chance to impress.
Granville Street is so busy, it would be easy to pass by this great little restaurant in the Marpole area. It is across Granville Street from the new Safeway. These guys have been in business for many years and the decor is a little dated, but clean and the food is delicious. We had calamari, Shanghai styled fried rice cakes, the house special chow mein with crispy noodles and fried shredded pork with veggies. Meal was served with hot tea and steamed rice. The food was very good, fresh and hot. There is a large menu of varied offerings to suit many tastes. The service is a little slow, but they get the job done. They offer delivery and take out. Parking is available on the street and some in a small lot behind. Prices are $11-$30.
Having visited this establishment several times and being comfortable with both the service and food I decided to host a dinner for my friends. I spoke with who I believed to be one of the proprietors and reserved a table for ten persons and was very specific as to which of the large tables I preferred. This fine gentleman who had an excellent command of the Queen's English assured me in no uncertain terms that the table that I requested would be ours. Upon our arrival I was horrified to note that the table was already occupied and was offered another table in a high traffic area. So unfortunate because it will be a long time, if ever that I patronize this restaurant again. What a way to run a business!
