The look of the cafe is as ordinary as any other place, but the service is as good as that of a 5 star restaurant. Seriously, our order had the better presentation with the best taste (allo parantha with salted lassi). A place to visit again.
Small and simple and tasty. Great dosas - the sambar nice and roasted, chutney with a little kick. The selection of curries is limited, but the paneer butter masala is fabulous, the gobi nice and rich too. The japati hot and puffy from the grill. I asked about Gobi Pakora - which is not on the menu - and it came out beautifully crispy, with a nice burn in the besom and a dust of somewhat aromatic masala.
The last day in Benares started with a trip to the Niyati Café, another quiet spot down a serpentine road, and their ginger honey lemon complemented the vegetable sandwiches quite well. The staff were well behaved and didn't charge any extra for tea in my ginger honey lemon. Good experience.
This place looked somber and somber to me. The menu didn't appeal to me too much. It contained many Indian staples that are commonly eaten at home. This menu might be good for a foreigner, but not for me. The other cuisine on the menu was Italian. But they couldn't serve more than half the things they had on the menu. I went there because of a friend's recommendation and had to try something. I ordered a pasta and surprisingly it was pretty good. The owner is a friendly guy too. In the end, lunch wasn't ruined.
A warm cozy place in a corner on the way to Dashaswamedh Ghat. It's a small place that can seat about 12 people at a time. The food here is good. I had ordered a hot chocolate drink and a chocolate banana pancake for breakfast, both of which were just amazing. Aside from cooking, the owner makes a point of interacting with customers. Overall, a great place to kill time and indulge in delicacies.
