Restaurante Rio Cortiço - VAU

We have eaten here for lunch and dinner a number of times this holiday and have loved it every time. The service is really friendly and the owners always make you feel really welcome. The prawns in whisky starter is delicious. The fish soup one of the best we have had in the area and the fresh fish is always of the very best standard. The sea bass with fries, salad and rice is heavenly. If you do have room my daughter swears the chocolate mousse is the best in PDR... and she has eaten one in nearly every restaurant. The view of the setting sun over the lagoon is magic. You must eat here at least once whilst you enjoy your holidays in this wonderful part of the world!

A must visit when in this part of the country. Great location on the Lagoon, easy access, but hard to find. Much better fresh fish in Summer than in winter.They are often out of many items on the menu, but will suggest alternatives.Some days have better service than others, but it's clean and can accommodate various size groups .

Always a great treat, fresh fish, good view and friendly service. The location is convenient and they have retained the focus from the old restaurant on the beach

The restaurant occupies a great position overlooking the Atlantic and the lagoon. However, the building looks a little tired. Do not be deterred, inside you will find wonderful food, good service and a lovely ambience. It is a predominantly fish restaurant and good value. Well worth a visit.

The team at Rio Cortico really pulled it off tonight great food and great service. Last year we visited and had indifferent food and service so this was a welcome improvement.Overall I would recommend although it wasn't cheap - the family were working hard to make the experience pleasurable so definitely a thumbs up.
