Every year we return, it’s been like coming home to great food, wonderful views and an ambiance you’ll struggle to match in the entire region. Sitting recently outside in the gardens, enjoying a pre-dinner cocktail, it’s been the absolute remedy to self isolation. And, exploiting the downtime that COVID-19 brought around, they’ve developed their own vegetable garden with amazing success – 12 types of tomatoes, onions courgettes red peppers chilli peppers artichokes to name but a few of their huge range of veg- these all now feature in the local produce menu. And with Jimmy playing covers of some great songs old new, 7 nights a week, what’s not to like? When you go, be sure to meet ‘La Patronne Fameuse’
New management since our last visit. Really good and reasonable. There are two gentlemen and a lady who have moved from Corsica bringing their Mediterranean twist to local produce. They are proud of their varied menu can cooking. Very nice people. We look forward to visiting again next year. PS look out for their 20 year old cat which scoops water into its mouth using its paw. Wry funny to watch as you enjoy your food. Pps they don't take credit cards.
Well, this was a great surprise, we were directed to a good place for lunch, just a few kilo meters from La Lunaire, all set on the GPS only 19 km later we arrive an at ordinary house that looked closed up… so we retrace our route getting more Rural by the km, nothing looks familiar, time was getting on..2pm, then my partner sees a sign Vendoire, this must be the right direction..then 3 kms down a pretty lane we see and old school house with the last of their diners leaving..We ask is there a chance for lunch..they look at us ..then yes come into the garden ..then the magic started..they were playing cumbian music and had the the kindest faces with great smiles. I ordered a greek salad, it was hot and I haven 't a good one for years..my partner ordered chicken on a skewer. Then (Thomas I think) starts to make the salad at the garden bar in front of us with a broad smile, starts to tell us of his life and travels. Francois the taller of the two men, recounts their time in Corsica and why they left and opened in France..so easy it seemed to change to a new venture. But these people know what they 're doing, the Greek salad was the best I have had for years and the same was for my partners chicken dish, all imagined up there and then… Sandrine, the glamorous woman sporting small colourful dancing bangles on her ankles was completely charming with a wonderful smile. Desert was great family recipe a well made chocolate mouse with banana..music now Corsican, Francois plays guitar but not for us that day.. There are some excellent cats they brought from Corsica..one was 22 years old. We were shown the bar which was great and Francois mentioned he will change the colour from Beige to dark green..of course, it all made sense..The owners of this restaurant made us very welcome, entertained us and left us with a promise, this is the go to place for us when next we are there. Curious as it is they have only been there three or months or so and nearly every car (few as they are) hooted when they drove past.. Really wonderful place. I cant wait to go for a drink in the bar, listen to them sing and play guitar and perhaps Sangrine will dance..Well you can but hope!
Peace and love could be the motto of this place, and its management (relatively new as they took over last year). Relaxed friendly atmosphere, flexible service as we arrived at the time they were supposed to close, and in what they serve (main sides were not available but I was offered a good choice of what else they could offer). Maybe more expensive than the average in the area.
Amazing advertised as closed on Monday it's open for lunch closed in the evening. One word sums it up CHARMING! We will be coming back for dinner tomorrow
