Very cool, hip place. Had an excellent egg white omelete and good coffee. Will go there again this summer. Came from Arizona, and found Abbot Kinney off a local TV show in our hotel. Glad I did.
. Everyone pleasant and service is great. Food excellent! Pancakes melt in mouth. Homemade pretzels and muffins.
They do not have FRESHLY squeeze juices but the Pretzel Burger is pretty great as well as the chicken sandwich and avocado fries. Pastries and desserts also tasty.
The chalkboard on the wall showcased a variety of menu specials, many of which had a distinctly German flair, along with an impressive selection of wines, if I remember correctly. The menu was healthy, unique, and appealingly diverse. I opted for the steak salad, which was honestly one of the best I’ve ever had. At around $16, it was one of the pricier items, but completely worth it. The iced tea I had alongside it was also delicious. Our Venice native companion ordered vegetable couscous, but she didn’t seem to enjoy it as much as I loved my meal. I couldn’t tell if her disappointment was due to a picky palate or something else on her mind, or maybe it just wasn’t great—who knows? It did look appetizing, though. I can’t quite recall what my sister ordered, but I think she liked it. On my way out, I had a brief chat with either the manager or the maitre d’—or whatever the appropriate title is for a small café. She handed me a business card with the restaurant’s logo and wrote in some details since it had only recently opened. She encouraged me to visit the bakery next door, mentioning that all their bread is freshly baked there, which adds a lovely continental touch. I enjoyed it so much that I returned with two friends for brunch on my next visit. However, this time the wait was quite long, indicating that the place has quickly gained popularity. Once we were finally seated at a communal table with long wooden benches, the service was efficiently brisk. We ordered a delightful basket of fresh-baked rolls with butter, which was a real treat—a refreshing change from the usual bagels or toast served at most cafes. To be honest, I can’t recall exactly what I ordered, but it was something unique that I thoroughly enjoyed. I highly recommend this spot as it truly stands out in the crowded café scene.
