La Meridiana - VENTIMIGLIA

Friday night. Pouring rain. Restaurants up and down the seacoast in tourist-friendly Ventimiglia are nearly empty. La Meridiana is packed to overflowing. Laughing, signing, no dancing, but plenty of eating! This place is loved by locals. This, in a town which probably has the freshest...fruits, vegetables and meats across the French and Italian Rivieras. We were blown away by this place's popularity. But how was our dinner? It was fine. Like others have said, not a word of English is spoken here. Not. One. Word. The menu is in Italian and some other unrecognizable language (French Nothing in English. But you can get by. We ordered two pizzas a Valtellina, with lots of meat and cheese and aragula (it was great), and a Siciliana, with olives and anchovies (and it was pretty gross, even for my wife the anchovy lover). A mezzo carafa of local red wine was excellent, and so was the panna cotta for dessert. Check was euro. Lay off the anchovies and you will probably do all right here.

We came here after glancing at its rating here, but just after ordering realised pizza is what to go for they looked and smelt great. We'd ordered fish though which was good, although only came with a few vegetables for euro each. The...pasta was served mins before the fish had been plated and served so wasn't good timing. One waitress was a bit cold but the owner and others were very friendly.

This restaurant serves a very characteristic local cuisine. We ordered various seafood dishes, but they made a Pizza Margherita for our son. The carafe of local red was an excellent value. Considering Ventimiglia is a market town attracting lots of foreigners, the staff was quite...hospitable. They are probably willing to speak something other than Italian.

I went to this restaurant this evening whilst on a trip to ventimiglia with other friends. The staff were very friendly and we managed to communicate well with a few laughs despite the language barrier. The food was scrumdidilyumptious and very authentic. The staff...were happy to accommodate my friend who was lactose intolerant very reasonably priced, would recommend!!

I arrived in Ventimiglia today on business trip and if your looking for an authentic Italian Pizza and service to go with it then look no further. Antonio is a friendly guy and played a major contribution why I am writing this review. The pizza...I ordered was the delicious and I really enjoyed my short time there. Unfortunately I had to leave as I had to get some work done but I will be returning later before I go home. I just hope he will remember me when I walk back in his restaurant as that will be the real measure as to his service levels. When I left I was thanked by everybody and was made to feel really welcome. Remember my name Antonio as I said I would write this when I left your restaurant.
