616 - Viana do Castelo

The 616 Bar surprised us on a Sunday evening with fresh prepared food and a good choice of local and international beer. The owners are very nice and helpful. I had a great octopus made in the oven with roasted potatoes, which fits perfectly for the dish. Also the snacks coming with the beer, olives and beans were great.

We stopped in one evening for dinner while walking the Camino Portuguese. The bar is tucked in the back of the building is beautifully designed and wonderfully furnished. The owner treated us like royalty. He provided us with a sample of his home made olives, as well as an excellent meal. I would highly recommend that anyone visiting stop in and say hello. Well worth the visit.

We stopped off here for drinks and food recently,we had walked all over this quiet beautiful town and couldn't decide where to eat, the owner is very attentive and keen to please but there was something seriously lacking with the food,I ordered an assado porco,excuse my ignorance I thought I was getting a grilled piece of meat with side salad,what I got was a cold cut that was not freshly cooked,dear knows when it was cooked,it looked days old, the other order was a burger which was fine,the salad was lovely too,the champagne sangria was too sweet and didn't taste remotely of champagne!Bill wasn't expensive but food was a disappointment.

Excellent typical Portuguese dishes with a modern touch. Pleasant and friendly environment. I recomend to all good food lovers!
