Areia Restaurante Bar

Lovely location but food service so so. It's fab to actually have lunch on the beach with a welcoming wind break and the fact it doesn't close for lunch (but not open Mondays) is a blessing too. The staff are friendly enough, and one waiter in particular was really nice in trying to make our experience worthwhile, but it does seem a bit of an effort to ask anything from the others. It is wonderful to have a cold beer in the sun on the beach, and the beer was good. Food, however, was so so for 2 out of the 3 choices we made. The best choice was the charcoal bun burger. Surprisingly our 11yr old, who can be a fussy eater at times, loved it even if it was a bit unusually pink in the middle for her liking, and ate it all with plentiful fries (ask for ketchup when ordering) The daily special of pork cheek in a bun was not as expected but that's our fault. We thought it would be a pulled pork type of roll but it was meat of a strong flavour instead-but that's a matter of taste buds I suppose. The chicken salad was the most disappointing. Although the chicken was tasty and enough the rest of it was very dry and, well, nothing to it except leaves, minimal amount of parmesan and a few roasted pune nut flakes. I had to ask for more dressing twice (and I don't usually like a lot of dressing) and when the extra did come it was mayo not what was on the plate. So, overall an OK experience but would probably just have the burger or a drink if returned next time.

We had a really good lunch at this restaurant in a beautiful setting. Very good service and delicious food.

Arriving at 4.30 pm, we were delighted that we were able to eat a variety of fish, seafood and meat dishes. The service was pleasant and everything was quite tasty, including the deserts. Beautiful terrace on the beach.

Nice location right on the beach. Well prepared food, excellent selection and a good shelter from the strong winds. Good service.

We called for a reservation and because of language issues, we thought they were open. They have lost their dinner chef, and are not serving. They suggested a place down the road, Pecado, which was worse than awful. More later, but only go here for lunch and be warned that they;ve lost their main chef.
